It's early yet to say what they will or won't do but maybe this was inevitable after MS bought LinkedIn. It's possible actual networks and social networking are fundamentally opposed, because the latter will always be monitoring and resisting some information, whether due to size or problematic content.

As noted by the article, Microsoft may have made this decision in connection with some bills that amount to censorship coming out of the US government, but it would be helpful if they made a statement to this effect.

It's a great moment for open source tools that are not developed exclusively in the US.
