Shell shortcuts

#1 Post by SYSTEM »

I found this list of shell shortcuts that you can enter e.g. to the address bar of Windows Explorer. For example, you can write shell:localappdatalow to enter the AppData\LocalLow directory.

Very handy, thanks. 8)

How-To Geek also has a good beginners overview of the same shortcuts:

How to Open Hidden System Folders with Windows' Shell Command

NirSoft's Special Folder View is in the database (https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1672), allowing anyone to check their real paths.

For in-depth technical info, check original MS resources at:

And sadly, these shortcuts don't seem to be usable in shortcut files (.LNK) -- creation fails with a "The file shell:localappdatalow cannot be found." message. :(

EDIT: as an afterthought, may be this topic would be better located in "Resources & Links", wouldn't you agree? :?

Very handy, thanks.
Agreed. I've seen these commands before but never in a clear list like that.
