Yeah anniversary update requires some new graphic drivers. Had to update my nvidia one from windows update only driver when it launched. Nvidia released a newer stable one a few days ago though. I had some crashes on the older drivers before that. No BSOD's however.

If you have driver update problems you can try disabling WU from updating drivers via reg tweak.

Code: Select all

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
"ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DriverSearching]
"SearchOrderConfig"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Device Metadata]
"PreventDeviceMetadataFromNetwork"=dword:00000001
Windows Update MiniTool will let you select the driver and hide it preventing WU from automatically downloading. You can also disable or set updates to notification mode without having to go through group policy.

The official wushowhide.diagcab tool would let you hide the driver update too.

Win 10 v1607 also seems to have tweaked driver rollback. It pops up a little survey asking why you want to rollback and then when you do it would temporarily stop trying to update that device from WU until there's another newer driver for it on WU.

Someone on Reddit posted a way to disable/enable GameDVR option (from the Xbox app) using the registry:
AbraElite wrote:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR

AppCaptureEnabled DWORD

0 = Off 1 = On

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore

GameDVR_Enabled DWORD

0 = Off 1 = On

Wow, what a terrible error screen. Maybe this needs to be renamed the "sad face of death".

I was waiting for this ... EFF gives a lengthy breakdown on their concerns about Windows 10 (found via this article).

Microsoft repeated the test. This time they published extremely accurate details about the test method and even the test scripts they used.

They just try to make more room for the telemetry data collecting updates...

I'm starting to see why they collect all this data from us: since my last BSOD, I only had 2 more; if there was no telemetry data collected from my system, imagine how many more I would have gotten!

By the way. A recent WikiLeaks email confirms that Apple gives data it gets by tracking iOS and OS X users to the American government, I quote, "thousands of times every month". (Of course, everyone should have known it already.)

Just astonishing. First the move to selling user data was one thing but now I have to use their (in my experience) very poor browser or look at advertisements? I'm approaching a stage where I just refuse to use anything from Microsoft beyond Win7. This is especially problematic as they're not selling Win7 anymore.

Eugene Kaspersky - That’s It. I’ve Had Enough! - Microsoft kills off independent software vendors by foisting its products on users that are in no way better
