Program that simulates network activity?

I can't seem to find a program that simulates network activity on the site. Need something simple that connects to a website at certain intervals.

Surely something like a mail checker or social network program would do it as they connect every few minutes.

Oh any activity. At work we got these modems that disconnects you if no one uses them for a hour or so.

Just wanna keep the connections going for the whole day.

There are a variety of "keep alive" tools out there, mostly used by people with dial-up modems. One that looks promising and may be portable:
