Re: .NET Applications
As requested, I have updated my .NET inclusion and compatibility matrix to also include information on non-Windows PCs like Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris (but have excluded smart phones and similar from the mix): http://johnhaller.com/jh/useful_stuff/dotnet_portable_apps/ I also added in informati...

Re: .NET Applications
BTW the listing is flawed in that it thinks there are <= 0% Non-Windows PCs. I wonder if the NetApp is too. That's done on purpose, since we're only really concerned with Windows PCs in relation to the portability of .NET. So I adjusted it to exclude Mac, Linux, iPhone, etc. We already know that a ...

Re: Songbird Portable V1.2
It was after I closed the PortableApps launcher. I have to say (as before) the launcher in my opinion works very well :) It's just these small problems that occur with Songbird and Firefox. Firefox Portable and Thunderbird Portable both properly clean up after themselves, including all bits in %APP...

Re: Songbird Portable V1.2
TESTED: Portable (Not Stealth) Saved to HKLM\SOFTWARE\mozilla.org & %TEMP%, plus creates an empty folder in %APPDATA%\Mozilla. Thankfully the launcher does alot of cleaning up! I would say Add It! because Firefox and Thunderbird are developed by Mozilla (+ PortableaApps) and they are both in th...

Glad to hear it, guinness. Any other issues, just let me know.guinness wrote:Whoops! I just tested again (was having problems with my XP) and everything was OK this time I read your post a little wrong last time, I thought you implied that the empty folder wouldn't be handled. So apologies to you all.

Re: Skype Portable 4.2.0.152 Released
I just double-checked this on my clean Windows 2000 VM and no registry keys, files or folders are left behind. So, guinness, I'm still unable to reproduce your issue.

Re: Skype Portable 4.2.0.152 Released
John, does Skype Portable handle upgrades well? I'm concerned b/c Skype Portable is an online installer. Also does this version address the /secondary command line issue - allowing for multiple instances of Skype to be opened? [EDIT] Looks like there's an upgrade routine. Yes, Skype Portable handle...

Re: Skype Portable 4.2.0.152 Released
Updated. But still not Stealth[?] because it writes outside of the application folder. Can you not include in your NSIS script to delete this folder upon exit? It does, or at least it's designed to. The %APPDATA%\Skype folder is deleted on exit (as long as it wasn't already there from a local insta...

Skype Portable 4.2.0.152 Released
Hi all. Just posted Skype Portable 4.2.0.152 at PortableApps.com. This version properly handles both the Skype settings portably, the empty Skype directory left in APPDATA and your Skype PM logs, so it should be considered 'stealth' by PFC standards. Any issues, just let me know. http://portableapps...

Re: Multiple Profiles for Firefox and Thunderbird Portable
Thanks John. Could be useful! What if you rename your folder to simply "Firefox", for the second profile, do you rename it to simply "Firefox2ndProfile"? Or are the original filenames supposed to stay static? You're welcome. No, Firefox2ndProfile is expecting to find FirefoxPort...

Re: Multiple Profiles for Firefox and Thunderbird Portable
Can you use this without the portableapps.com menu launcher? Yup. It can be used standalone, with the PortableApps.com Platform or with pretty much anything else. Just be sure to install it 'next to' Firefox Portable. It's best to install both to X:\PortableApps\ so that upgrades are easier (that w...

Multiple Profiles for Firefox and Thunderbird Portable
Hi all, We just posted utilities to allow the ability to use multiple profiles with Firefox Portable, Thunderbird Portable and Sunbird Portable over on PortableApps.com. I figured some folks here may be interested in it as well. It uses a small helper app (under 200k) that utilizes the main launcher...
