How about a cloud virtual machine? I know Microsoft Azure started offering them in preview last month. Not sure if they're generally available yet.

Re: Thinstall

Old thread update : Because of the tendency to be used for piracy it is unwelcome on PortableApps . That specific post was about a user who had made a portable package of Thinstall without permission from the publisher in violation of its EULA. The wider issue was that IIRC the Thinstall folks had ...

Re: WebView2 RunTime Environment ?

One reason for the .Net exception is that it's automatically included on all modern Windows systems. With .Net 5 - 7 bundled or an app that supports .Net Framework 4, it should work out of the box. For other versions it gets tricky. PortableApps.com used to not allow .Net apps but that changed as Wi...

From the name, it would appear so. When reading, I was wondering if those two sections were possibly the dev poking fun at China.

Re: DownZemAll! (download manager)

I'm putting it through the paces to try and grab a bag of PDFs for some research I'm doing. There's media tools, torrenting, and some batch operations that I don't think are available in DownThemAll. I'll try to follow up with more info if I keep using it. Thanks. If there are some genuine advantag...

Re: RisohEditor Portable

I was looking through the guide in examining this app and found this in automation: https://katahiromz.web.fc2.com/colony3rd/risoheditor/en/page15.html "Censorship may be enforced for the purpose of stabilizing the national polity in small countries with unstable political conditions." &qu...

Re: DownZemAll! (download manager)

It's not electron, but it's still using the full Qt web browser components which is why it's 133MB installed. Just the Qt5WebEngineCore.dll itself is 75MB. A little curious why someone would choose this over using the 3Mb DownThemAll extension.

Good to know. I didn't want to edit it myself if policy was otherwise.

You could place a small note in the red feature text at the top of the page when editing an entry.

Thoughts on when a new version is "released"?

Hey all. I've noticed that sometimes PFC is updating a given app when it's available on a download server but not yet released by the publisher and was wondering if there was any sort of policy on that. We ran into some issues with PortableApps.com where folks wanted an update but the publisher hadn...

Thanks all for the kind words! Still working to extend features in new ways and get more apps out there. Strange to think I've been doing this since 2004.

HandBrake is legit the only one of the 3 I've used, so I'm not *just* being a troublemaker.

K-Meleon is still updated weekly and runs on Windows XP. I update the portable package and continue to test it on Windows XP: https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/ ... n-portable
