Re: Weather Watcher
This portable version of Weather Watcher may violate the license agreement. I love Weather Watcher, and I've been using the last freeware version (installed) since it went payware several years ago. In the help file, it says that you are free to distribute Weather Watcher "provided that you dis...

Re: Linux Live USB Creator
I tried Portable VirtualBox with LinuxMint (both Gnome & LXDE), and it was unbelievably SLOW. Unusable. Maybe someone with a better box would have more luck. My stuff is getting long in the tooth. Depending on just how old your setup is, you may be able to improve things by enabling enhancement...

Folder Monitor settings are not portable - they're stored in a folder in %APPDATA%.

Re: HOSTS file comparison
freakazoid, I know you posted this a few months ago, but I just started running into the same problem again (now that it's American football season), and I found a workaround here:http://www.freak-search.com/en/thread/3559632/mvps_hosts_file_adblock_plus_espn_videos The solution is simply to comment...

Re: Active@ ISO Burner
Active@ ISO Burner is now at version 2.5, but, as robzuc points out, the zip file contains an InstallShield installer. Universal Extractor did not successfully extract the installer (neither the isunpack nor the /b switch method). It does work if you install, then copy, then paste, then uninstall. T...

Re: New at NirSoft
It's not stealth by its nature, and that may mean that you won't use it portably, but that doesn't mean it's not portable. We actually have quite a number of tools in the database whose main purpose is to modify the registry to adjust some of the core features of Windows: Start-up tools, like Starte...

Re: RDP Management: Terminals
It's been mentioned a couple of times before: http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1808 http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2786 But those were before Andrew democratized the submission process, which has allowed .NET apps to get added to the data...

Oops! I missed that "Insert meta tag" feature in ReNamer when I checked the various renaming tools for EXIF support.

Re: Stamp
Anyone know of a tool that works like this (but portably)? If not, I'll use the non-portable version, but it seems like a reasonably simple process to pull EXIF data and stick it into the file name. Several portable file re-namers include support for adding EXIF data to file names: Siren Ken Rename...

Re: KeePass 1.16
joby_toss, I'm pretty sure that the_watcher was talking about being able to find it on TPFC. the_watcher, what you're noticing is not a bug, but a restriction on the number of times an app can get pushed to the top of the "recent updates" listing on the front page in a short period of time...

Re: about portable virtualbox alias vbox.me
They are PHP warnings. PHP scripts on the server work incorrectly and generate warnings which, for some reason, are publicly visible. PHP warnings are a sign of an unmaintained website. :( I just had reason to track down a portable VirtualBox yesterday, and I came across the same warnings. I was ab...

Re: Random
They might make sense for gaming but otherwise pointless. Random numbers are useful in statistics, but those who would find them useful are more likely to rely on a full statistical software package, and wouldn't be interested in these little programs. There are other uses in science. I do ecologic...

Re: Random
Webfork and guinness, Did you get it to generate a file with random numbers? I can't a list of random numbers, only files with random content: a long string of unicode characters. I tried using multiple algorithms, single algorithms, single distributions, but never got a set of random numbers. There...

Re: Entire computer on a thumb drive (not just the OS)
I assumed the OP was referring to a "PC" type of machine that you could actually do real work on, ie something like an ASUS EeeBox but much smaller. The OP was referring to something that's been built, and provided a couple of links. It's a "PC" the size of a thumb drive, but it...
