Re: Nik Collection (image processing plugins)
I haven't tested it, but at first sight Pall Kris Photo Effects looks like it offers the usual simple effects almost any photo app comes with. A portable Nik Collection would have been awesome, it looks far more powerful and professional.

Re: PatchCleaner (DotNET system files utility)
It says it cleans orphaned files but I'm still wondering whether a system cleaner like that is likely to cause any problems in the way some aggressive registry cleaners and so-called system optimizers do.

Re: ONLYOFFICE (free office suite)
The desktop version is not only free, it's even open source. In their German forums, a request for a portable Windows version has already been made in December 2016. The mod claimed he was going to inform the devs about the request. (It's seemingly impossible to search for "portable" and t...

Ah, that did the trick. Reading helps. Thanks.Ennovy wrote: Use the email adress to register, not your name.
GAOTDNB: Please, enter your e-mail into the 'Name' field when registering the software.
Otherwise the key won't work.

Re: Software promotions
I obtained an oMega license key via giveawayoftheday, but the (portable) app says it's incorrect. Anything I did wrong?

Re: Opera Presto source code leaked
Yeah, well. Not that I consider this leak inherently and morally evil. Hope that's clear. Still, according to the news mentioned in the first post, lawsuits were already filed. So I think the question what the actual use of the code will be is appropriate - regardless of what I or you or we consider...

Re: Wise Registry Cleaner Portable
don't use it to "clean" the registry Heaven forbid! Made that mistake when young and inexperienced... Don't trust a tool to "fix" that kind of issues Again, heaven forbid! I once had a tool from a computer magazine that did all sorts of tuning stuff just like the infamous "...

Re: Wise Registry Cleaner Portable
I tested it to see if it can find some crapware junk that came preinstalled but that I uninstalled. I saw the app offers system optimization, network speed-up among others. Since I sometimes get wifi connection problems (seems to be win10-related, no issue with any other system) that aroused my atte...

Re: Opera Presto source code leaked
May sound exciting to Opera 12 fans like me. But what could be the actual use of the leaked code? Making good ol' Presto compatible with state-of-the-art web technology might be a lot of work. Last but not least, hosting the code and even using it in a software release would be illegal.

Re: Foxit Reader - PDF viewer
I posted over on PA.com and JohnTH fixed it very quickly. As you can see in the screenshot, it was an issue with localizations or their updates.

Re: Foxit Reader - PDF viewer
I did so several times and it kept reappearing. I finally deleted Foxit and downloaded it again. Now it works. Weird.joby_toss wrote:Try to delete that folder and see if it reappears after using the app.

Re: Foxit Reader - PDF viewer
I got the PA version because I had to fill in PDF forms, which my usual PDF viewer SumatraPDF can't do. However I noticed that, while I can't see any of the registry entries Baas mentioned above, v8.10.1013 leaves a folder in AppDate/Roaming on Win10, despite the portable wrapper.

Re: No more education
I teach, though not an IT related subject, and most of the times I go to a computer room with my students, it results in utter chaos: text suddenly disappearing from word files or powerpoint slides, files seemingly being saved into the void and gone lost forever... They play on their phones and tabl...

Re: Nik Collection (image processing plugins)
Also ... PixBuilder Studio I can't find any data on PixBuilder using Photoshop plugins but - if so - should probably add that to the entry. It says so on its German page: http://www.wnsoft.com/de/pixbuilder/ See Hauptfunktionen (= main functions): Unterstützung von .8bf-Filtern (= support of .8bf f...

Re: Nik Collection (image processing plugins)
Great, I've heard about the plugins but wasn't sure we have portable software that can use them. Nik Collection comes as an exe file, has anyone tried to extract it and use it portably?
