Re: SpeedyFox

Correction, guys! Seems, somehow I have an old FF profile from an installed FF version! I can't remember EVER having installed FF (I only use portable versions). But I did once have the old Mozilla Suite and K-meleon installed. Nevertheless, there is a Firefox profile folder within an old Mozilla f...

Re: SpeedyFox

Looks like your SpeedyFox is not compatible with your system for some reason, as that down arrow on the right in the first field (that would allow you to navigate to the "profile" folder) is greyed out. Perhaps some system file that SF would need is missing. The programmer might know.

Re: SpeedyFox

I don't have any local FF installed, but got several portable FF versions, and speedyfox worked "successfully" (didn't notice any improvement in speed) with each one of them from version 3 upwards (not with older FF versions though). It also works with the Pigfoot portable FF version that ...

Re: SpeedyFox

Too bad it doesn't work with portable Firefox editions. :o :? It worked here (so the program said). You have to locate the portable FF profile by clicking on the down arrow in the first field and then -> "Custom..." I just don't notice ANY improvement. But then, I don't use some of those ...

Re: Virus Effect Remover (Registry tool)

Unusable for me as it requires the .NET framework. But might be useful for checking a friend's computer that got that environment. Thanks.

Re: Portable Daemon tools like program?

kuihdez, WinMount certainly isn't portable. Not even the (illegitimate) "portable" version that can be found online is portable. Just tried the latest "portable" version of WinMount again and, after using it a few times, and after it restarted my computer several times on differe...

Re: True Transparency

It's cute. But it annuls PowerPro's advanced handling of the title bar of opened windows like: roll up window, minimize to tray, etc. Also, after exit, it showed that it had made standard windows explorer not maximize properly, for a time. Never yet got lucky with those programs that interfere with ...

I don't quite understand what kind of an automatic alarm feature you need. Taking your example, you can usually set, in a good reminder, an alarm to notify you 4 days before an event and then (more or less conveniently and quickly, depending on the program) manually pick the next date or rather the ...

I simply want to know about dependencies before I read up on a software, download two separate .exes, have to connect a third time to the Internet to download the real program (I didn't), read up on a specific, awkward installation procedure and finally find out that it won't install because it's de...

Dependencies (like the .NET framework or Java) should always be mentioned, I find. Saves time. I wouldn't even have checked the software out, if I had known in advance. ;-)

Newer Version not Requiring .NET framework

There's an additional version 2 now on that page that no more requires .NET framework. So, the program is very portable. BTW, as the program doesn't do a search of its own, I use the search tool "Everything" to search for any thumbnail databases and simply drag any found entry from "E...

On their forum I could read that they plan to make HDClone run from USB, and one guy on their forum states he has succeeded in making it run from USB. Link

Nevertheless, I still can't make the program run properly on my setup. Gotta write to the support.

HDClone Free

HDClone Free Standalone tool from here , where they got more of those, for the geeks to check out. HDClone Free lets you migrate easily from your HDD to a larger HDD (the usual scenario), and it is doing that on a physical level, thus avoiding errors and being fast. The different commercial version...
