you can try out a program called Cafe.
It re-directs double-clicks in Windows Explorer to a program of your choosing.

It's not a hardware problem... it's a noted Windows XP problem. When XP has a network drive mapped to a certain drive letter and your flash drive is expecting to mount to that same drive letter, then XP gets confused and the flash drive gets lost in translation... App to change usb drive letter without admin privileges?
Usually I would go under "Disk Management" to do this, but I don't have the privileges to do so.

App to recover files without admin privileges?
Usually apps like this such as Restoration requires admin privileges in order to recover files... however i need one that anyone can use!

The command should be rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1 But I can't get it to work either. Why use cafe for that anyway? It would make more sense to use cafe for your other app to open them and make Pic and fax viewer the default. i don't have admin privileges at ...

Not sure if this is payware or freeware... it's kinda the same as Winzip and WinRAR in that it stays functional even after the trial date but gives you a nag screen every once in a while.
