It's a 30-day-Version only. It says: "All users may use WordWeb for 30 days for evaluation purposes. After 30 days you may use it only if you take less than 3 flights in any 12 month period ... ... If you fly more than this you must purchase WordWeb Pro to continue using the software after 30 ...

I don't know if this will meet your portability requirements, but this is small, free and for multiple versions of Windows (including 95), so it probably doesn't use the registry. Edit: Oops! It took me a while to re-find it. The main site is in Hebrew, so it isn't easy to find a translation, but th...

Free42 RPN Calculator

My favorite RPN calculators, usable versions on multiple platforms. I personally use it on PalmOS, WindowsXP, and Linux. Also, Mac, Pocket PC, and Zarus versions. It is self contained in a single directory.
free42.sourceforge.net/

Oh yes, if this is important to you, FOSS, hosted on SourceForge.

LiberKey comment

John Haller posted the following comment in a post on the PortableApps frums about his experience with LiberKey. I am passing it on in the public interest: "I wouldn't touch anything they publish with a 10 foot pole. They were using all of our software with our copyrights, help files, source an...

Certainly much smaller.

Though the download link on the page needs to be updated to:

Last release was in 2004 as a Beta, is it stable?

ThinApp 4.0

Press release on ThinApp 4.0 from VMWare. A little pricey for most of us, interesting anyway:

That this great app is now free is great news. I was a registered 4DOS user back in the day... I hope it is as portable as you think; I'm just not capable of making the determination. But, I'm putting it on my one remaining Win desktop anyway!

What data are you trying to sync? What phone and what host app? Probably the easiest non-portable solution is a PalmOS phone synching to Palm Desktop, but I don't know of a portable version of the desktop.

Interesting, but I don't understand it at all. It looks like a tag editor for PDF's and that's fine, but when I open a PDF, I can't see it at all in this program. I've used a lot of editors in my time, including line editors and I've never seen an editor that doesn't display some of content. Can som...

Re: VST Host

It's a VST-compatible (and very small) host that's capable of: - loading VST effects (aka "plugins") - parameterizing / editing them - sound output for VSTis - MIDI-input and -output - loading / saving .fxb / .fxp files - I/O through either Windows MME or ASIO drivers - Wave Player / Reco...

It is probably easier to put your search page and any supporting images or other files in a folder on the USB drive and set your home page link to it. This will also allow you to make changes more easily. I do this with a tiddlywiki page on my portable firefox.

There are truly new applications included in the betas listed in the PortableApps forums, but there are fewer of them. Launchers and wrappers are easier to develop and there are a large number of open source (and a few freeware) applications that can benefit from the developers' skills. Please don't...

Does this program have any value to users of Windows who use a non-Apple-branded music player (Sansa, Creative, Sony, Coby, etc.)? Since it appears that the program runs on the iPod itself, which is not a Windows box, and that it appears not to run on other Apple devices, it is not likely to meet th...
