Re: Everything (lightning fast file search engine)

'Everything' is a wonderful app. It constantly gets me out of trouble by finding documents I seem increasingly to misfile.

Re: Why Portable Freeware?

As someone who accesses PortableFreeware.com daily (at least), I simply want to say thank you to Webfork, Andrew and others who work hard to provide a valuable service to less technical users of Portable Software such as myself. Thank you!

Re: Is Opera 15 standard portable or not ? (4)

Just to be clear, is "this damn thing" the portable version direct from Opera.com or the massaged version from portableapps.com? I've also ceased using Opera in portable mode for similar reasons. Thanks.

Re: Discussion about recent events

Dear Andrew Speaking as a relatively quiet but frequent user, I want to record my appreciation of the manner in which this site is run. I find it extremely useful and it is often my first place for review/comment about portable freeware. My appreciation extends to all the mods and the hard work you ...

Re: Softmaker FreeOffice

@Webfork - "Finally, someone" - that was probably me! I really like this application and use FreeOffice 2018 as my main Office program both installed on my laptop and portable on the USB stick I carry with my car keys. Thank you for taking the time to write up an alternative set of steps f...

Re: Softmaker FreeOffice

Softmaker FreeOffice (2018) reads and write DOC & DOCX, PPT & PPTX, and XLS & XLSX and it normally does so with no error I can discern. On the very rare occasion that FreeOffice scrambles the format, I go to LibreOffice - also in portable format. Never have I needed to resort to paying f...

Re: Softmaker FreeOffice

I am interested by the statement of vevy on September 11th that Softmaker FreeOffice (2018) can be made portable and helpfully he gives some instructions to use. For many years Softmaker Office (both paid and free versions) have included a utility to make a portable version which works very well. I ...

Re: How do you update your Portable Collection?

My method is really simple - I check this website daily! I find there are enough other people tracking and posting changes to keep me adequately up to date. It would be a shame to waste all their hard work! Sometimes, I also check portableapps.com but mainly this site serves just fine. /opsima...

It seems that no good deed goes unpunished! :( I feel sorry that Lupo has received this verbal trouble in response to his efforts to build a better app for us all. I like PortableApps.com and use a number of John T. Haller's apps. However, in this case he is speaking beyond his knowledge base and ha...

Re: DropIt

I must be missing something!

I just downloaded the latest version of Dropit from https://sourceforge.net/projects/dropit/ and it came packaged with a setup program that produced a decidedly non-portable install

Can someone help me to do it right?

Thanks.
