Re: Pixie color picker.

Pixie also runs fine in wine on PCLOS (and presumably your linux distro), but I was expecting it to display a color wheel or other image to select colors. Pixie only will pick colors from other parts of the screen. That isn't a bug, just worthwhile information for deciding what else you might need.

Re: I'm looking for a very good programmer's editor

I've been a longtime user of notepad++, but not having access to a recent version at my client, I've switched to Vim with Cream (cream.sourcesforge.net). I'm finding it quite useful.

Re: Should I download Ubuntu GNU/Linux? NO!!!

It looks to me that you got as much value out of Ubuntu that you paid for it. I'm not an Ubuntu fan; I've used mostly PCLinuxOS for several years as it well suits my needs. If Ubuntu doesn't satisfy yours, you can choose any of the other 300-400+ distributions out there (see Distrowatch.com for idea...

Re: what is a launcher?

Actually, I think you have a quite accurate understanding of the two primary uses of the word 'launcher'. Since it can be confusing, I try to be consistent in using your second definition as the primary one for me. Please be aware that many applications you find here do not need a launcher; they are...

Re: Java Portable 6 Update 15

Sorry guys, I don't think you understand what 'portableapps integration' is. Mostly, it is a menu program that can be used with any executable, portable or not, so long as the application is located in a particular place in the file structure. The individual applications do not rely on the presence ...

Did you notice the post dates? This thread is over 2.5 YEARS old. A lot can change in that amount of time. I'd suggest contacting the publisher directly for more current information.

Re: Xmind

I have a problem with a program that claims to be open source while it 'requires' you to login with your OpenID name and password to download. It strikes me as a harvest names and password scheme.

The current version of FS Capture is PAYWARE and belongs in that forum where it will not confuse the unwary reader. The version posted on Portablefreeware.com is the last FREEWARE release. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing your desire to keep people informed, I just want readers to unde...

Re: How can I make my son easy with his homework?

There are any number of excellent calculator programs out there and many are free. I personally use Free42, an RPN-based HP simulator. There are similar algebraic ones. But, I'd be careful about letting him use them to complete his homework without guidance. My suggestion, which worked with my daugh...

I think it is time for a new hosting situation; I have been unable to download either 77 or 78 due to bandwidth limits on your site. Please post when you have resolved this situation.

Perhaps I've been too harsh.
If you are one of the licensed users of Thinapps, I'd suggest their support line. For the cost of thinapps, the support should be great.

Yes, legal ones. And you've already had a suggestion on how to do it at the 'other church' (portableapps.com).
