Re: FreeRapid Downloader

Midas, get JavaPortable! ;) From looking at those two links though, I would say FreeRapid is probably better in respects to its plugin system - it has updates nearly every few days and has over 700 supported sites, which includes video streaming sites.

Re: FreeRapid Downloader

Version 0.9u4 is out. Humorously, they use file sharing services to host the program - humorous because the program itself is created to deal with the deceptive 'find the hidden download link' tricks these services are known for. But hey, if you have it installed, you can use an older version to do...

Re: calibre

webfork, good idea about looking at alternatives. I'd commit to calibre if they didn't duplicate my entire ebook collection to a local drive. The responses on their forums to this wasteful technique is basically 'just deal with it' or 'your primitive intellect wouldn't understand alloys and composit...

Re: RapiSVN Portable

Working with this software is awkward at best.. you have to right-click folders to connect and checkout stuff, and navigation is pretty slow. But, it works.

I've also just noticed that yaP has an INI file for use with RapidSVN, so that may be the better way to go.

Re: Trillian Astra and Trillian 5

I haven't had trouble running this portably. In fact, it is my go-to IM messaging and email-checking client. Very compact on memory usage as well. There's also some nice plugins include an RSS reader. Latest update addresses security issues.. (5.4.0.16) edit: Plugins available at http://developer.ce...

Re: FreeRapid Downloader

So I've recently been using this program a bit more now that it seems pretty stable with the updates. I have to say its a must-have part of my toolbox. Its so convenient to set a group of files to download from multiple sources and (typically) not worry about it unless theres some CAPTCHA stuff. And...

Re: yaP - yet another Portablizer

Yes, file size is larger but can be reduced to 31 KB using UPX. I wonder if the size could be made smaller using another language, eg. C++ for example. I think I cannot rest in peace until I rewrite it in C++ :) trpoli, the file size as it is is actually better than you'd get writing a typical C++ ...

Re: Google Drive alternatives

I'm happy using SugarSync, although the free storage limit isn't as good as say, Copy. However, SugarSync lets you set the folders to sync and allows you to selectively exclude certain folders from synching, which is something I haven't seen in any other cloud service. Plus it has mobile device supp...

Re: FileOptimizer

Seems the creator of PETrim was contacted about the overlay issue, but that person needed an incentive (read: money) to update the project.

The author of FileOptimizer said a disable-PETrim option is going on his ToDo List.

Huh, how about that:
Version 7.30

That explains why that key was triggering errors and crashes!

Thanks for the update marc!
