Re: WizFile

Hi - I'm the author of WizFile. If you enable the "Start with Windows" option WizFile will update the task scheduler to start WizFile when you log in. It's done this way so that it can start without the Windows UAC prompt appearing. What you're seeing above is WizFile removing itself from the task ...

Re: WizFile

I gave this a try and I like it as an alternative to Everything, I'd rather it use memory over I/O'ing a DB file, so that's a plus in my book. I wish there was a way to blacklist a folder or two though, like have it ignore the C:\Windows\ folder, as I don't need to be searching in there for general ...

Re: New at NirSoft

You guys should really make an exception and add a "Nirsoft" category for the site, he makes up like 25% of it. Without this site I doubt he would get much exposure, I dunno what it is but I find his site a mess to navigate and impossible to find "update" news about his releases, if it wasn't for he...

Neat, I wonder how long until he comes out with a program that'll tell me how many shortcuts I have on my desktop.

Re: Is this site compatible with FF 59.1?

Works fine for me, also on FF 59.0.1 But I've seen others complain about "sites" not loading correctly and it seems there's a bug that needs to get fixed, but there is a workaround apparently. ''so far it appears to be an issue that only affects users who have turned off cleartype font rendering wit...

Re: Why does this site constantly log me out?

I still get logged out once a week or so, it (I beleive) is because I have a dynamic IP, I see on the forums under the control panel there is a "“Remember Me” login keys" section, and each time I have to log back in, I check this, and the IP is different. Wish this sort of thing wasn't tied to IP, I...

Re: VLC - media player

Whats the problem with the UI? Like VLC has a totally customizable interface, with tons of skins you can already download. Here. https://www.videolan.org/vlc/skins.html I'm sure there are even more on deviantart and the like too. Edit: Yup. https://www.deviantart.com/customization/skins/media/vlcmed...

Re: VLC - media player

https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html Click the little arrow on the download button, and select either zip or 7zip one to download, all that's needed afterwords is to manually add the portable folder. There is also a x64-bit version of the zip and 7zip package but I got it from here. ht...

Re: VLC - media player

Yup!, it's in the changelog under "Core" https://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc-branch/NEWS

* Support portable version of Windows build (create a "portable/" folder)

and I haven't noticed any "vlc" folder in my AppData\Roaming folder since.

Re: VLC - media player

Version 3.0 is official out and seems portable when adding a "portable" folder to the installed location now.

Re: Nominate the best new portablefreeware of 2017

Giving a shoutout to linkMaker and Paint.NET, used linkMaker a handful of times in the past few months and it makes everything so easy, before I came across this app it was a pain to manage them. Paint.NET has always been my "image editor" of choice, but now that it's portable it gains an extra poin...

Re: CCleaner Portable

I extracted the installer with 7-zip and created an empty file called "portable.dat", and it seemed to work. However, using the extracted installer version seems to generate cookies and bookmarks in my Firefox profile as soon as I run ccleaner64.exe (I see changes to cookies.sqlite and webappsstore...

Re: FileOptimizer - broad format compression

Is it me or do startup times seem slower now with the latest version? I looks like all the interface takes a second to load up (appears blank white on load) whereas before it was instant and I never has this white window issue.

Re: FileOptimizer - broad format compression

Those icons are much improved over the old, even though I still don't know what any of them mean at first glance. As long as there's a tool-tip though it's all good.
