Re: Protect against unsolicited write/delete operations?
Why not try an SD card with a USB to SD adapter. Most, if not all, SD cards have a switch to prevent writes. If you have an M$ Pro OS you should be able to set permissions on both your external drive and trusted software packages. And some firewalls can can do what you want. Probably not a portable....

Re: Cafe/Coffee/etc questions
I've already stated why I choose not to use mai9's nsis wrappers altered to handle the registry in enough detail(as stealth as turkeys are vegan, system and wrapper crashes leaving a perma trace on host machines, batch scripts could do better in most cases). And considering the honesty of John &...

Re: Cafe/Coffee/etc questions
Hey I could care less for Haller or his inputs. He hardly tries to help, and from my own experience I can say all he does is try to prop himself up. His wrappers when working with registry entries tend to be failure prone. The comment regarding firefox four redirecting http, classic. Kinda defeats t...

Re: Cafe/Coffee/etc questions
Ignored. Denied. Not what I need. Also, I've seen your works, not impressed. Typically anything your wrappers handle with the registry results in massive leaking fails. Have a nice day. I've no need for you or portablecraps. Elaboration: Anything that edits the registry and the re-edits when the pro...

Re: FINALLY: .NET 2.0 Portable
Can you do a quick write on on how other users can roll their own portable .net 2.0? I saw some of what you mentioned in the previous post but if you'd be so kind, could you please share? I'm rather fascinated by this release. It reminds me of when I rolled my own portable java six years ago.

[Update] Kvirc [4.0.4]
Just an update to the already existing entry id=1229
4.0.4
There are some differences in the extraction process, mostly just some changes with folders.
If I'm arsed enough to make a full list or find a different way of extracting I'll post it later.

editing the registry and restoring it later...no
Portablecraps you say? I'm familiar with how reliable John's work is when it comes to handling the registry.
I'll have to say no donald, it wouldn't work.

Re: extracting archives via NSIS scripting
I'm trying to do it from within an NSIS script. Not Universal Extractor.
Restated: The NSIS does the unpacking via a script. And for the sake of kicks and giggles we'll say the archive is a zip file.

extracting archives via NSIS scripting
I know there NSIS plugins for this but I wanted to know if there was an NSIS command for unpacking archives or an official built-in plugin that I didn't have to download for this.
Also is there a way to check for files for hashes in NSIS?

Cafe/Coffee/etc questions
Is there a way to make Either Cafe, Coffee, or one of the other tools of this nature that can redirect url handles aside from what coffee and cafe do already, redirecting extension handling. Keep in mind I don't give two shits about the extension redirection, just url handling(intercepting ftp/http/...
