Re: MuseScore v 0.9.2
I've been a heavy user of the standard non-portable version of MuseScore for about a year and a half, first with version 1.2, and now 1.3. While it writes its settings to AppData\Local\MusE and AppData\Roaming|MusE, MuseScore doesn't use the registry unless you associate files with it. Nevertheless,...

Re: Bandizip V1.0.3
@outskirter: Are you sure that you've got all file associations deselected? Definitely. Re: Bandizip V1.0.3
Please note that even though Bandizip writes its settings to its own app folder, version 2.01 build 7558 managed to add a whole bunch of compression formats to my registry automatically on first run, without actually associating them, even though I had not used Bandizip's associations option at all....

Re: Hornil StylePix - New Free Image and Photo Editor
I've been using StylePix version 1.8.3 for quite some time, in fact since before I discovered the Portable Freeware Collection. I initially installed StylePix the conventional way, then copied the StylePix application folder to another location on my HD and uninstalled the app. It's now running from...

Re: Bandizip V1.0.3
I've just tried the portable version. It lives up to its name -- it's really fast and easy to use, moreover, no entries are made in the registry unless associations are used. Also, unlike 7-Zip, the option to select a working folder actually works! 7-Zip offers that option too, but ignores it (as me...

Re: Organizing Portable Applications...
Anything portable here goes into the Documents folder on my Windows 7 netbook. I try to keep them categorized, as follows: If the portable app has anything to do with dictionaries or reference material, it goes into its own individual subfolder beneath "Documents\Reference". The main Refer...
