Re: FreeFileSync
Whichever unwanted offer is bundled with the installer now consistently crashes said installer on my computer, unless I completely unplug the computer from the network before launching the installer. I love the program on principle, but that kind of garbage behavior makes it difficult to support the...

Re: LibreOffice Portable
I redownloaded a fourth time and got a valid file this time. The file’s size didn’t change between downloads, but this time I used an integrity check. It works now.

Re: LibreOffice Portable
I didn't have problems with the portable version either, but after three different tries on two different computers, I cannot seem to be able to install the non-portable version. Something about a corrupted file ( liboffice1.cab , I think). I was wondering whether the problem came from the original ...

Re: DropIt
Quick question:
How should I word the Destination of an Extract action so that a file’s contents are extracted in its parent folder rather than a new folder bearing its name? (e.g. extract the contents of C:\Work\files_to_extract.zip in C:\Work\ rather than in C:\Work\files_to_extract\)

Re: yWriter 2.3 (Creative Writing WP)
Wait, so StoryBook will allow you to write your project, but won’t allow you to export your work unless you buy the Pro version? I don’t mind programs that limit access to several useful-but-non-vital features in a freeware version, but exporting your work is kind of the goal in a program like this ...

Re: LiberKey concerns
On both a WinXP and a Win7 machines, I do confirm that one of the first things the launcher did after a fresh install was to suggest that I download a software suite…

Re: DropboxPortableAHK
It does work with the latest version of the DropBox service, but not with the latest version of the DropBox client software. As far as I know, something changed in the client after a certain version that broke portability. On first launch, it downloads a copy of the last version that supported porta...

WriteMonkey - minimalist text editor
[ Moderator note : this thread was split from the Dark Room thread.] --- There is an alternative though: WriteMonkey is still actively developed right now. Similarly to DR, it requires .NET, which is the only reason why it isn't portable (though the author is trying to see what can be done about th...

Re: FileZilla entry
First thing to check: did you follow the instructions in the How to extract section of the entry? Those are the steps you need to take to make the original FileZilla portable, after all.

Re: yWriter 2.3 (Creative Writing WP)
I just wanted to point out two potentially interesting export options that were recently added by the author: to eBook: Exports your project to a single HTML file designed specifically for importing into Calibre . You can then use Calibre to convert the file into any of the supported eBook formats. ...
