Dan - thanks for that. I remembered OffByOne from a couple years ago when I went in quest for the ultimate light weight browser. The limitations of page rendering is a problem, though. I did find something - Amaya: http://www.w3.org/Amaya/Amaya.html There is a Thinstall version (i.e. fully portable)...

Andrew - that's the interesting thing. This (and other about:config tweaks in FF) will work the first couple of times. But after that FF, Opera ... anything ... they all want to connect to the internet again! In my testing so far, Offline mode just can't seem to be fully locked down. I've tested thi...

Portable Browers: Fully Offline Mode Possible?
I've seen an explanation for this somewhere - if someone can jog my memory ... A while ago I was trying out various portable versions of Gecko based browsers (Mozilla, K-M etc) as well as Opera in the hope I could use these as fully offline web page browsers. After trying various tweaks I couldn't s...

mwortman, Ok, what you are after can really only be handled using application virtualization. Thinstall is a rather expensive solution squarely aimed at the commercial / corporate environment. I've been testing this for work. So far we've had success with most Adobe products (except Acrobat Pro). ht...

Re: strange behaviour
As long as it is running, I can't start any other program. Calls are put on hold. For example, if I start an explorer session with Windows-E, nothing happens, but as soon as I close down OOWrite (or any other), the explorer window pops up. Have you got Process Explorer there? Have look at what is h...

XPect - thanks for the link.
Yucca - yes, it needs 2.9x beta(s) to work.

Thinstall creates a sandbox. The default address is: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Thinstall You can see the virtual reg data there. But it depends on which build options you use in the .ini. - if it's WriteOnly or Merged. Read more at their site (btw, well worth reading t...

iMerge - Image Stitching
IMerge is a program which allows multiple images to be placed onto a large virtual 'canvas', and arranged to produce a single large composite image, or mosaic. In regions where multiple images overlap, the result is an average of all contributing images - this has the effect of improving the signal...

Yes! But it does get pretty insane having hundreds of itty bitty utilities sitting on your drive.
Thanks for the suggestion - http://www.jv16.org/ looks promising!
