Re: Advanced text finder and viewer

I suspect that Specular 's suggestion will prove most useful as a grep based program probably has more bells and whistles. I have used PowerGrep in the past (not portable or freeware). For my own needs in this area I have found LookDisk useful. Its strength for me is that it can search within Zips a...

Re: Duplicate File Finder

I find this thread very confusing! There is an application called 'Simple Duplicate Finder' available from its Home Site... http://www.simpleduplicatefinder.com/ It's by New Valley Soft; it's at version 1.1.8 ; it's not freeware (costs £16.09) The originator of this thread described the file as Dupl...

Re: screenShot.exe

I was going to briefly comment on the fact that the download does not have an extension (it's exe).
However I suspect that the program will not be regarded as acceptable as 'Start Menu' is shareware.

Re: YDL-UI

I use 4k Video Downloader almost exclusively. It meets all my needs and I thoroughly recommend it. Over the past week, I have had a problem with one particular file download. My favourite failed - so did every other Youtube downloader I tried including some commercial programs. So smaragdus contribu...

Re: VideoCacheView

@philippe Thanks for the heads up. Always interested in a Forum member's suggestion. I personally have used 4K Video Downloader for many years, mainly because it coped with other sites such a DailyMotion and Vimeo etc. For some reason I couldn't find it in the TPFC database or forum. I remember see...

Re: VideoCacheView

@philippe Your reply certainly explained one aspect of my problem. I seemed to be getting multiple fragments of the same stream although I found it incomplete. I won't take advantage of your offer. I'll use an entirely different approach - Bandicam or similar. I have been trying to capture live str...

Re: VideoCacheView

@billon First of all thanks for your quick response and your suggestions, particularly the second. As you might have expected I did try IECacheView but I got mixed results. Some .ts files showed up and were viewable but they were cut very short and the layout was wrong. I tried running a few Youtub...

VideoCacheView

A few years ago VideoCacheView was one of my 'Go To' programs. I had recourse to try and use it recently and was very disappointed. Most of the time I use IE11. VCV doesn't seem to find any videos! If I use Chrome then I have more success but I don't want to use Chrome. Investigating further it seem...

Re: Sokoban YASC

OK - I can see Uniextract is not the answer. Now that the BAT file is available for the latest setup file, I've been able to follow instructions up to a point. The 'click me to install portable bat' file does NOT actually allow me to install to a folder of my choice. It installs to a subfolder insid...

Download the setup file and Uniextract to a folder of your choice. Job done!
There is no longer a BAT file etc
But thanks again for your efforts shnbwmn

Re: SokobanYASC

First - thanks to shnbwmn for the post. I initially came across this sort of puzzle when I encountered KYE on my Windows 2 system. A long time ago but I certainly got hooked at that stage. Of course I have subsequently used a few Sokoban variants. But I don't want to post a game review. Rather I wou...

Re: KuKnet FileRenamer

First of all let me state - a first class entry! I particularly liked the preamble - spot on. But for me - thanks but no cigar. I gave the product a reasonable test but struggled. I could insert or delete at a specific location but could not delete odd characters (using eg F2) in some filenames. I f...
