I figured out the SetupCapture routine (not much to figure out, really) and after a few tries got it to work that way. Thx - p.

Thanks for these suggestions. I'll the give the various identifier modes a try. With regards to NeatImage, I tried the install in a clean VM as well as on my regular PC, going through pretty much all the available configurations (including normal3) and always came up with the same error. But I'll tr...

Some JauntePE conundrums...

Lately, I started using JPE0.3final to build some portable apps following the quickie procedure outlined in the video tutorials. The first app worked without problems. The second one seemed to have worked as well. But when the application is started, I don't see the three JPE icons (indicating regis...

Forgot to mention: Another good alternative is KMplayer (http://www.kmplayer.com/forums; not the KDE/Linux one!).

Just copy the codecs from RealAlternative (and/or QuicktimeAlternative, if you like) into the program dir. Plays anything I've ever thrown at it and looks a little prettier than VLC.

Not entirely sure, but doesn't VLC require RealAlternative (when downloading RA, it usually includes VLC, as far as I remember)?

Posted this question in the comment section for TC, but I guess not too many people will see it there. So, here it goes again... I was wondering, what is actually the difference in just extracting TrueCrypt from the install file vs. running it in traveler mode? Traveler mode is not stealth as stated...

Xrecode - audio conversion, cd rip

Just found a neat little app, that does some audio conversions: http://xrecode.com/ The most useful feature to me was splitting of a flac file based on a cue sheet (there are not many alternatives found in the PFC database). It's not stealth, as it writes some settings into the registry, but otherwi...

Just when I post these things, a partial solution pops up... Turns out Photomatix relies on .NET. When poking around on the Photomatix website, hidden deep inside the FAQ section, I found a download link to an executable with .NET embedded. I tried JPE on that one and it works a lot better - althoug...

Trouble portabilizing app - where to start troubleshooting?

I recently made few application portable with the JPE autowizzard (2.0.3) and didn't run into much problems. One application however gives me trouble (it's PhotomatixPro 3.0.3). When I run the PhotomatrixPro_portable file from the directory where the application has been installed, it runs fine. Whe...

@Ameri-CAIN: That's what I thought, when I previously requested and received a Thinstall demo. I diligently built plenty of portable apps only to see them locked, when the 30-day demo expired...

Just downloaded that beta and was already getting giddy with excitement about the prospect to have Thinstall at my disposal, when I noticed, that the software will expire in June 2008

I had trouble running 4.0, but this one works great. And with Kqemu installed it's pretty fast too (I didn't try any of the VMware drivers). Great solution for a portable VM.

I was trying to run it over the network, that didn't work. When moved back to the local drive it worked. I want to keep it on the server, simply because I switch computers, mess up things, re-stall Windows etc. etc. on a regular basis. So I try to keep as many apps as possible on a server. If I then...

nLite 1.4.1 portability question

I'm aware that nLite requires .NET 2.0 and is thus not deemed portable. That requirement aside, however, it should run without problems from anywhere, if .NET is present. So far the theory. But I just installed it, copied it over to a network drive and uninstalled it. From the network drive it doesn...
