Portable to me means,I can run a app from any machine without installing it first. Anything else is up to each user. What if the machine you plug your thumb drive into has a keylogger,screen capture utility. If it does than it dosn't matter if you leave any registry entries or not. I like apps that ...

To be stealth the application must not leave any trace on host computer. A app can be portable but not stealth. So the answer to your question is YES
