Portable UltraExplorer

This is the portable version of UltraExplorer - a file management utility that includes several interesting features. The tool can be easily handled, even by less experienced users.

Since installation is not necessary, you can place Portable UltraExplorer on a removable device (like a USB flash drive), store it on any computer and directly run its executable file.

Plus, there are no modifications made to the Windows registry and no leftover items can be found after removal.

The interface of Portable UltraExplorer is similar to the one of Windows Explorer, with the difference being that this app supports multiple tabs.

The application comes packed with numerous toolbars; these include the address, main menu, FavoriteCrumb, layouts, navigation, drives, drop stack and filter bars. You can enable the dual pane listview, add selected items to a favorite list and select all files, folder or match text.

You can use an advanced search function, flatten folders, calculate folder sizes, integrate UltraExplorer in the context menu, change the interface theme and language, as well as customize the layout.

From the "Options" area you can change the text color and font for the treeview and listview, enable group coloring, customize columns, set the thumbnails size, configure mouse gestures, disallow multiple instances and set the app to minimize to the system tray.

The file manager uses a low amount of CPU and system memory. It has a good response time, includes user documentation and didn't freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs throughout our testing. We have not come across any issues. Portable UltraExplorer is definitely worth taking into consideration as an alternative to Windows Explorer or similar apps.
