Beau on 2012-02-05 17:25

I've been using Don't Sleep for some time now and it works great for me. It updates frequently but I never had a problem with the many previous versions. I use it when doing routine unattended maintenance, when making large backups and downloads.

I think "Don't Sleep" should win an award for the most updated program on TPFW. :-) Works well though, thanks.

RunAsDate is a small utility that allows you to run a program in the date and time that you specify. This utility doesn't change the current system date and time of your computer, but it only injects the date/time that you specify into the desired application.

You can run multiple applications simultaneously, each application works with different date and time, while the real date/time of your system continues to run normally.

Very handy indeed for those times you wish to change a file's date and time. Thank you once again, Nir ! ! !

Shutter Lite v3.6 Updated

Checker on 4 Oct 2014
  • 2MB (uncompressed)
  • Suggested by USB_Kx

Shutter lets you perform an action when a user-specified event occurs. The event could be timer countdown, a certain time trigger, low CPU usage, user inactive, low battery etc. The action could be shutdown, reboot, logoff, lock workstation, sleep, hibernate etc. It is also able to play a custom sound and/or run a program of your choice, in addition to displaying a user-configurable message. A web interface is also available that permits remote execution of one of a list of actions.

Note: The developer has added limitations in recent "Lite" versions of his software. Shutter is limited to 5 presets, events, and actions.

How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch Shutter.exe.
What's new?
  • "File Size Limit" event renamed to "File Size".
  • "File Size" event can be triggered when file no longer exists.
  • "File Size" event checks file every second instead of 5 seconds.
  • Use "MS Shell Dlg 2" font instead of "MS Shell Dlg" on Windows 2000 and later versions; This system font substitute maps to "Tahoma" which better handles ambiguity between letter "I" and digit "1".

Works great. I find this very useful for uploading videos online. It can take hours for them to complete, so I usually do it overnight. However, I want the computer to shut off after they finish uploading. This program did the trick!

Shutter version 3.3 is no longer FreeWare for non-commercial use, it is now CrippleWare- Shutter Lite.

freakazoid on 2014-04-24 17:07

Recently, I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Update 1 and had trouble waking up the computer from sleep.

I tried various solutions, but ended up turning off automatic sleep in Windows and using Shutter to Sleep after X amount of time is inactive. Now, I'm able to wake the com up. I understand this is a workaround, but this ended up working for me.

I got rid of Windows Scheduler and use nnCron instead. Very simple, flexible, and it uses the unix crontab format.

BGM on 2013-06-06 13:51

Wow, I'm a powerpro user, too. Funny how we are all checking out a system scheduler... I use pycron on my server, however.
