I've been using Don't Sleep for some time now and it works great for me. It updates frequently but I never had a problem with the many previous versions. I use it when doing routine unattended maintenance, when making large backups and downloads.

I think "Don't Sleep" should win an award for the most updated program on TPFW. :-) Works well though, thanks.

Shutter Lite v3.4 Updated

Checker on 15 Mar 2014
  • 2MB (uncompressed)
  • Suggested by USB_Kx

Shutter lets you perform an action when a user-specified event occurs. The event could be timer countdown, a certain time trigger, low CPU usage, user inactive, low battery etc. The action could be shutdown, reboot, logoff, lock workstation, sleep, hibernate etc. It is also able to play a custom sound and/or run a program of your choice, in addition to displaying a user-configurable message. A web interface is also available that permits remote execution of one of a list of actions.

Note: The developer has added limitations in recent "Lite" versions of his software. Shutter is limited to 5 presets, events, and actions.

I have been using this since i got my HP Notebook, which has been a few years, right around the time Windows 7 was released.

Im very anal when it comes to keeping my Notebook clean, and im always wiping the screen with cleaner wipes. The proper way is to turn off the Monitor beforehand, but with Notebooks, there is no Monitor on/off button.

this is why i use Shutter. It's portable, light, and only activates when it's triggered either manually, or via timer setup.

I use Shutter to create a shortcut with hotkeys to temporarily turn off the Monitor on my HP Notebook, so i can clean it :) It's only triggered when i press the Hotkeys i have setup, the rest of the time, it does nothing, eats no resource.

Im not sure how Shutter stacks up against similar software, but for my purpose, it does what i need.

I def. recommend this, have been using this for years, with no problems.

Works great. I find this very useful for uploading videos online. It can take hours for them to complete, so I usually do it overnight. However, I want the computer to shut off after they finish uploading. This program did the trick!

Shutter version 3.3 is no longer FreeWare for non-commercial use, it is now CrippleWare- Shutter Lite.

  • Suggested by risk

RunAsDate is a small utility that allows you to run a program in the date and time that you specify. This utility doesn't change the current system date and time of your computer, but it only injects the date/time that you specify into the desired application.

You can run multiple applications simultaneously, each application works with different date and time, while the real date/time of your system continues to run normally.
