Great Programme but I can't get it to install in Windows 7.
Any hints??

Magibon on 2011-08-19 10:45

@ Middle Richard

the whole point of this forum is "Portable" Freeware.

thus, you don't have to install.
use "Universal Extractor" and extract the installer.
then you can use MP3directcut without installation.
read above for detailed instructions.

You can get Universal Extractor here:

@Magibon - mp3DirectCut doesn't use an installer; it uses a self-extracting archive.

The developer is not offering the portable (zip package) version anymore.

NickR on 2011-09-26 14:11

Further to lautrepay's observations:

Comparing the current webpage to previous:
The Download installer Version has grown from 962KB to 1.01MB
Both Version history pages are up to 2.5 and have not changed

_____________ Built Version
Last zip file exe 10Jul11
New install exe 25Sep11

The installer will extract OK

But beware the following:
The License has changed with added clauses referring to:
...By Installing the Facemoods toolbar, you agree to Facemoods Terms of Use and Facemoods Privacy Policy. You can easily uninstall this application at any time.

...Facemoods toolbar may change your homepage, search provider and tab to If you prefer not to install this application, uncheck "Install Facemoods" when the 'Select Components' screen appears.

Note: This is just a quick review of what I can see, I have not installed or tested the new version

MuseTips Free MP3 Cutter and Editor is currently at v2.6.0 (changelog mentions only v2.5.0:

Audiobook Cutter Free Edition v0.7.5

Checker on 15 Mar 2014
  • 2MB (uncompressed)
  • Suggested by alois

Audiobook Cutter splits large MP3 audiobook files into smaller ones without re-encoding. The split points are determined automatically based on silence detection. The split files are easier to use on mobile MP3 players because of their smaller size, and their duration allows smoother navigation.

Note: As recent versions have turned into nagware, I have made a copy of the last freeware version for direct download. Please email me if you have more recent freeware versions of the software.

System Requirements: Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista
Writes settings to: None
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Yes
License: Freeware/Open Source
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. There are two versions for download: Win95/98/ME/NT and Win2K/XP/Vista. Launch AudiobookCutterFE.exe.

Stick with version 0.75. It's really free. It ain't fancy, no bells and whistles, but it works. Version 1.4 demo is crippled and completely useless. BTW when you start up v0.75 answer "NO" when it asks you to upgrade!

za-wulon on 2009-04-26 17:20

yep, new demo version is useless for freeware users, but it rather works for first 10 min of any file.
Anyway appreciating your "free" job, I can give you a free clue.

My player mutes something like first second of any tune [book] it plays, if it would be more common I'd like to see prog [when buying] equipped with silence adder.....
