This program has saved my butt twice now. The first time was a massive cut and paste operation from a camera flash drive to a hard disk The cut worked, the paste failed and all the .jpg files looked to have been deleted. Recuva saved the day! It got 'em all back. Today a woman pulled the flash card out of the camera hot and whatever happened, it then looked like it wasn't formatted. Neither the computer nor Recuva could find anything. So, we did a quick format and then ran Recuva - viola! All the .jpgs on that flash card (two hours worth of work) were ALL recovered! Talk about a butt-save operation!! Awsome!

Be careful, Recuva can view all deleted and un deleted images even ones on a pass word protected USB drive. So if you think your sensitive images are safe with a pass word just run recuva and you will be able to view all your pass word protected images without using your pass word.

I had high hopes for this program, but alas, when I desperately needed it to work it failed me. The only program that managed to recover everything was EaseUS Data Recovery. None of the free stuff worked, or if it did recover anything it a) was corrupt, or b) couldn't recover the tree structure (after specifically ticking the option to do that). Not being able to recover the documents in their respective subdirectories also makes the program useless.

  • Released on 12 Jan 2016

R-Undelete recovers files from external USB disks, digital photo and video camera memory cards and other devices with the FAT (FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, and exFAT) file system. In addition, it also uses the scan for known file types, which makes R-Undelete an ideal solution for the recovery of lost digital photos, movies, and music.

PhotoRec is designed to recover lost files including video, documents and archives from hard disks, CDROMs and removable storage. It recognizes the header formats of supported file types, so it will work even if the filesystem is severely damaged or formatted.

This is by FAR the ABSOLUTE BEST recovery software I've ever used. I do wish that it had a window interface... but it just recovered files that would've taken me 2 hours to recreate. Fantastic. (By the way... I tried 3 other favorites including RECUVA before using this. None of them worked. This did. I think RECUVA probably would've worked with a deep scan, but I don't have the 2 hours to sit and wait for that hope!)

Need administrator rights.

The functionality of this Photorec *free* program is great. The fact that it is free is even better. I've tried it, I like it, i will use it again and I WILL DONATE (honest guv). Fair is fair. Good Karma.

Encopy v5.26

webfork on 6 Apr 2016
  • 75KB (uncompressed)
  • Suggested by AlephX

Encopy rescues data from damaged media when standard system copy fails, freezes and or rejects the media. In cases where it is not possible to perform a full recovery, Encopy will try to copy as much data as possible from the damaged files.

Great for use in getting whatever data off a scratched CD or DVD whose copy would otherwise give up on a read error.
