@abc - i agree completely
for those looking for an alternative, qBittorrent is becoming quite good - it has a nice, functional GUI and it's open source (and cross-platform) - http://www.qbittorrent.org/

Noticed now if you use the Check for Updates option in help menu you get a stupid ad at the top of uTorrent disguising it's self as a recommended torrent.

@humpty;

Agreeing totally with the article from that link.

I Use BitComet v1.35 (since a few days v1.36) seeding mostly to at Share Ratio 25-30 and downloading at speed 1,000-1,500 kB/s.

I'm very satisfied of this little gem. ;)

I personally hate programs that try to do everything as they invariably fail to be good at any of it. BitComet is basically trying to become Shareaza. Do people even use the eDonkey network any more?

Just remember to go to Options -> Advanced and tick Announce to all trackers otherwise it will only use the one tracker.

Speed of a Bittorrent client is not everything, just because it is fast, doesn't mean it plays well with the bittorrent network.

That being said, I have not found anything that indicates that it does not play nice.

But it doesn't have a scheduler or RSS monitoring, so I'll stick with uTorrent for now.

Still page loading problems, still using v3.3...

abc on 2011-12-21 17:46

Nowhere near as functional/customizable as other browsers but still a very good secondary browser. Extremely lightweight when you consider how much disk space and memory Firefox, Chrome/= or Opera can take up.
