Oh, I forgot to mention that it come with installer, but it work on portable usb. Just extract IpSwitch.exe and run it. Program settings will be saved in data.ini in same location as IpSwitch.exe

@tpig:
Don't recommend outdated crap please.
Eusing's free IP Switcher refuses to work on anything better than Windows XP. So it's virtually useless.

Please would someone edit the 'Synopsis' so it is less misleading. Apparently, this software is for ' ... mobile users ... at ... office ... ' yet is only 'free for personal use'!

FileOptimizer v9.90 Updated

billon on 11 Jun 2017
  • 194MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 11 Jun 2017
  • Suggested by I am Baas

FileOptimizer is a broad format file compression tool used to reduce file size without changing the quality, known as "lossless." This is done via wide variety of optimization and recompression tools and techniques. Original files are sent to the recycle bin for restoration in the event the uncompressed version is preferred. A long list of supported formats include audio/video (MP3, OGG, M4A), image (GIF, JPEG, PNG), office formats (DOCX, XLSX, ODT, PDF), and system files (DLL, EXE).

Supports drag-and-drop of files into the window or onto the program icon. Note that by default the program removes metadata for many file types. This information reduces overall file size and protects privacy but is important to some users (e.g. photographers) and file search tools.

A 64-bit version is available within the folder, the author reports the program is functional in WINE, and can be used on the command line.

Category:
System Requirements: Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10 / Wine
Writes settings to: Application folder

How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch FileOptimizer32.exe (for 32-bit OS) or FileOptimizer64.exe (for 64-bit OS).

Can't start the app on WindowsXP - it misses BORLNDMM.DLL. Just plain adding of that .DLL doesn't resolve the issue...((
Any ideas for the solution?

Midas on 2015-12-27 03:05

@kozak: did you try registering that DLL with Windows?
(e.g., "regsvr32 BORLNDMM.DLL" at the command line)

webfork on 2016-02-26 00:23

Most images and files I post to portablefreeware go through this amazing compression tool. When compressing PDF files, I strongly recommend enabling the lossy DPI compression settings (usually around 150 or 200 is fine for most documents).

CherryTree produces great formatted HTML export. It's fully customisable after-the-fact, with the included styles.css. Embedded files, images and the HTML files are stored separately from each other.

RedNotebook v1.15 Updated

RedNotebook is a modern journal that includes a calendar navigation, customizable templates, export functionality and a "cloud" box containing frequently used words and tags. The program also includes spell check, formatting, insert images, files, and links, automatic backup, templates, export to multiple formats. You can also format, tag, and search your entries. Your data is stored in plain text files -- no database needed.

Cross-platform and available in more than 20 languages. Alternatively, RedNotebook Portable is stealth, smaller, re-opens your last journal, and has faster startup times. X-RedNotebook is also available.

Category:
System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? No. Creates:
%userprofile%\webkit\icondatabase\WebpageIcons.db
%userprofile%\.recently-used.xbel
Path portability: Automatic relative path (eg. ..\..\personal\work.doc)
License: GPL
How to extract:
  1. Download the installer and extract to a temporary folder
  2. Move the contents of {app} to a folder of your choice
  3. Open \files\default.cfg with a text editor and change "portable=0" to "portable=1"
  4. Launch rednotebook.exe

Problems? This process requires an up-to-date component (Innounp 0.36 or above) for Universal Extractor. If you have difficulty extracting the files, follow the steps below and retry:

  1. Download the latest version of Innounp
  2. Extract the RAR package to the \bin folder of Universal Extractor, overwriting the existing innounp.exe
What's new?
  • Bundle pygtkspellcheck 4.0.5 since earlier versions contain a bug.
  • Fix toggling autostart.
  • Set system tray icon name.

Can we check that the Windows/Portable versions are up-to-date before updating the entry? As of this comment, the entry reflects the Linux version that’s been available for several days now (1.6.0), but the Windows installer and both Portable versions are still stuck at 1.5.0…

Checker on 2012-11-06 17:51

Uups, sorry.
Changed back to v1.5.0

smaragdus on 2017-06-11 06:08

I cannot find RedNotebook version 2.0 for Windows (as of 2017-06-11):
https://sourceforge.net/projects/rednotebook/files/
it seems that currently it is available for Linux only.
The latest version available for Windows is 1.15.
