The entry's description should make clear that what's offered here is the PortableApps package. Upstream Spybot S&D v2.5 ditched XP support, and XP users are advised to stay with v2.4:

https://www.safer-networking.org/2015/spybot-2-5-compatibility/

Moreover, the upstream download page only lists v2.4 (older versions still available):

https://www.safer-networking.org/dl/

Happy.Camper2 on 2017-11-23 02:08

System requirements should not include Vista for v2.6
Complete listing of OS's & Compatibility are at:

https://www.safer-networking.org/about/compatibility/

Have a Happy Holiday everyone :)

zorro on 2018-12-06 07:20

Beware! Even you don't clean anything, the portable package leaves numerous traces in the system: hard to find registry keys (search also for "Safe Networking Limited") and a stubborn folder in ProgramData plus one in AppData\Roaming (unfortunately I didn't wrote down all the traces before cleaning up).

Blows my mind how stagnate NirSoft's programs become, HashMyFiles still doesn't have a way to "Delete files to Recycle Bin" or similar. And all his programs are still plagued with DPI/multi-monitor issues years after reporting about them.

ClamWin Portable v0.103.2.1 Rev 0.103.7

lwc on 15 Apr 2023

ClamWin is the Windows version of ClamAV, a virus and spyware scanner which database is constantly maintained by a group of volunteers and updates are always available for free. Note that the program does not contain an on-access real-time scanner; you must manually scan a file in order to detect malware or use a third party tool like the general purpose Directory Monitor (see Execute scripts/applications when events occur) or the outdated Clam Sentinel.

ClamWin Portable is a portable wrapper for ClamWin and can be modified to automatically update virus database periodically or during startup.

ClamWin v0.98.6 released: http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/245/1/

This release updates ClamAV scanning engine to the latest version and brings following improvements:
* Bug fixes in detection of files produced by upx, upack and mew packagers
* Other bug fixes and feature improvements

Download the latest version here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/clamwin/files/clamwin/0.98.6/

Midas on 2015-05-16 21:13

Please note that, for updating purposes, you needn't download the full 100MB+ ClamWin package.

Just go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/clamwin/files/clamwin/, find the latest version folder and download the clamwin-0.9x.x-setup-nodb.exe, which is only about 8MB -- after (Uni)extracting, you'll find all the files you need for updating in the '{app}\bin' folder...

Midas on 2021-05-05 07:53

Long overdue update, IYAM -- it took tree years for ClamWin to be updated from v0.99.4.

Ironically Avast doesn't allow me to download this program.
By the nature of the application it couldn't really be described as a false positive!

A good AV will not let you run this kind of software unless you add it to the exclusion list.

Clam Sentinel v1.22

  • 1MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 23 Nov 2014

Clam Sentinel is a real-time malware scanner using ClamWin Antivirus as its engine. It also detects new drives and monitors these units until the program is closed or until the device is disconnected.

NOTE: There have been no updates to this program since late 2014. You might want to consider using the general purpose Directory Monitor instead (see Execute scripts/applications when events occur, which also provides Clam Sentinel's missing feature of only launching ClamWin within specific folders).

Thanks for the info, MKonar. I see you carried it over to the ClamWin Portable entry, too. :)

Unfortunately, seems that afterall ClamWinDBUpdate is not adequate for a Sentinel configuration.

I tested it and even after correcting the "clampath=" key inside 'ClamWinPortableDBUpdate.ini', it doesn't work because my executable is 'ClamWin.exe' and not 'ClamWinPortable.exe'; also, it's located in a folder named 'bin', while the \/irus Database files are in a sibling folder named 'db'.

And just FYI, the 'thumbs.db' inside 'rsc' cause Explorer to complain when moving the extracted folder tree as instructed...

ishldgetoutmore on 2015-07-23 14:01

When I decompress Clam Sentinel, I don't see any .ini file. What am I missing?

ishldgetoutmore on 2015-07-23 14:16

Nevermind. I ran ClamSentinel.exe and it created the .ini file for me.

This looks like a potentially useful app, but I'd never trust a 'removal tool' that didn't allow a 'scan and report' option first. You have no idea what this is going to do to a PC when you press the 'Start' Button!
