Nothing to see here. There are far better, completely freeware text editors out there. First that comes to mind is Notepad++, which also has its own plugin system.

shnbwmn on 2015-12-06 12:06

For those of you that want something even better, there's Atom, from the developers behind Github. Portable, modern interface, and fully extensible. I don't think you can ask for better.

There is a new version, but i think it is not portable any more.

@Peter202 That's true - we're intentionally linking to the old version. I'll add a note to the entry about that.

Duplicati v1.3.4 Updated

billon on 16 Apr 2019
  • 24MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 2 Feb 2013
  • Suggested by procyon

Duplicati is a feature-rich backup client that allows user store compressed, encrypted backups locally or on a variety of remote services. The program can save bandwidth and disk writes by only backing up the parts of a file that have changed since the last backup. It can backup open/running programs, on demand or scheduled, and can run in the background with bandwidth and process priority limits to avoid interfering with other applications. Includes support for backups to Amazon S3, Windows Live SkyDrive, Google Drive (Google Docs), Rackspace Cloud Files or WebDAV, SSH and FTP.

Note: As portable software, it necessarily does not run at system startup so the available scheduling tools cannot function unless the program is actually running. To manually run a backup, just start the wizard and select "Run a backup immediately".

Cross platform (Mac/Linux) with available command-line tools.

System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10 / Wine

Symantec AntiVirus says this program is a threat - labels it HackTool.SniffPass Info from the Symantec site: Updated: January 15, 2010 4:46:01 PM
Type: Security Assessment Tool
Risk Impact: Low
Systems Affected: Linux, Solaris, Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows XP

BehaviorPasswordRevealer is a Security Assessment Tool intended to discover passwords by sniffing network traffic.
I can see where it could be used as a malicious program, but I'm betting this is a false positive. You'll have to make your antivirus program ignore it to use it, I suppose. Just wanted everybody who downloads this know about it...

Tintenkiller on 2010-09-08 09:15

Sadly, that's pretty common nowadays.

A lot of Nirsofts great tools are labeled als hacking software by numerous AntiVirus Apps (e.g. Trend Micro). Thus trying to block them. It's always a pain in the ass.

But not much you can do about it.

It's not really a false positive either - since those tools ARE sort of hacking tools. But the tools themselves do nothing harmful per se.
