Have been using Metapad and then Metapad360 for 15+ years
The range of text formatting tools are amazing.
My fav is "quote" Alt+Q, which inserts your custom string at col.1 of all selected lines/paragraphs/pages. Notepad++ does a similar thing BUT not all in col.1 ... Metapad makes it much easier to spot the "quoted" lines.
I am using "'o" , without the quotes, as my quote string.

bawldiggle on 2019-10-16 22:18

Forget to mention the "stickies" feature ...
10 shortcuts (Quick buffers) to paste your custom single line strings onto Metapad docs ...
** Settings (dlg) Buffers & Languages (tab/page)
hot keys Alt+<num> ... where <num> is (querty) 0 to 9
=OR=
selected text on saved file Metapad (config) -> Alt+Shift+<num> (ie qwerty-num)

It needs and uses Internet Explorer, which is NOT portable. I'll have a serious look at this program if it can work with my browser of choice. I am now not al interested in it.

MarkB on 2011-02-09 17:05

Meant: I am now not at all interested in it

kiwichick on 2011-02-16 10:14

Latest version still says 1.12.39 in the Help / About menu. And the .exe file is exactly the same size as 1.12.39. So has it even been updated?

Nice try, but... If you want a really cool and free daily reminder program, try DateTrac, available at soucek.clearwire.net/filetrac.html It reminds you at system boot time then exits, rather than remaining in your tray and sucking resource all day long. ZERO registry entries, so it's totally portable. Give it a try.

Cornflower on 2010-11-12 23:30

Nice look and feel. However, I gauge any reminder system by whether it can do the Thanksgiving (2nd Tuesday October in Canada or 4th Thursday November USA), or every x weeks. This one unfortunately doesn't do either.

FYI, if anyone wants a command line tool for this type of thing, Microsoft has provided an app called filever.exe in their support tools since W2k.

I guess this is a PDF *creator* and not editor... useful to create a PDF from scratch but can not edit existing ones...

Nate on 2010-03-24 18:14

It shouldn't be included in as a PDF editor.
All it is is a rich text editor that 'prints to PDF'.

robzuc on 2015-07-14 08:59

As in 2010 year comments, this is not a real editor: it just can't open any pdf file.
