Can't use SQL files directly, have to connect to a server. useless.

scottG on 2011-02-16 13:11

Just a clarification, this doesn't work "directly" with Oracle, MySQL or other DB, it requires an ODBC connection set up. If it worked "directly" with those it would connect to Oracle via TNSNames on (default) port tcp/1521 and for MySQL tcp/3306. It does neither.

2018: Rubbish. No workie with Informix database.
Description reads very well as in, it can sing, dance, and bake a cake. In fact it sits in the corner and sulks.

RawTherapee v5.8

Midas on 31 May 2021
  • 2GB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 4 Feb 2020
  • Suggested by pipetman

Raw Therapee is cross-platform RAW image file processing program. It compares well with its more expensive commercial counterparts such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Bibble Pro, etc., but its user interface has a steeper learning curve.

Raw Therapee lets you apply color correction, image sharpening, and retouching to your RAW image files in a non-destructive way. Its image sharpening algorithms appear to be superior to some of its commercial peers, and its color correction features lets you make adjustments to a deeper level than similar programs.

Beyond color correction, RawTherapee also provides other in-depth options ror RAW file corrections. This includes things such as pre-processing, pattern noise and chromatic aberration correction. Batch editing is also supported within the File Browser tab.

This has been flagged as malware by AVG and other programs.

AdrianK_IT on 2012-05-05 13:30

This is one of the NirSoft utilities, and trustworthy. It is flagged as malware as it clearly can be used for malicious reasons ie extract passwords for nefarious purposes. However, it can also be used for good reasons ie extract passwords for recovery purposes etc!
I have learnt to temporarily disable 'real time protection' in AV software when downloading/moving/using these utilities.
I also use them as a simple test of AV software effectiveness; if it doesn't pick up these utilities as potentially malicious, then the AV software is clearly useless!

anyone got this working together with firefox portable? i read that it is possible when pointing to the profile folder but it just fails here.

Qupzilla is getting a little memory hungry. I have removed this from my favorites list.

If you want a barebones browser that uses little memory, I would recommend the latest version of K-Meleon.

smaragdus on 2017-02-04 16:56

@billon
At first look QupZilla version 2.1.0 seems to have improved significantly compared to version 2.0.2, but it uses far more resources compared to version 1.8.9. I did just a brief testing.

freakazoid on 2017-02-11 22:46

I can confirm what smaragdus said about v2.1.0.

Memory usage hovers around 120-140 MB RAM, but that is to be expected when the core engine is now updated to use QtWebEngine, which is powered by Chromium. To compare, I had an older version of Qupzilla v1.8.6 lying around and that used 210 MB RAM.

It's a good alternative to the existing Chromium-powered browsers, but if you're using a Chromium backend, you might as well use Chromium so you can gain access to the wealth of available extensions out there rather than some homebrewed versions that come with QupZilla.

is there a way for this program to read an Outlook (not outlook express) address book listbox of type OUTEXVLB? I do not get anything at the bottom of the screen. I have tried it with around 200,000 items and with about 800 items and nothing shows up. Is it because this program does not support this particular listbox/window???

Thanks for the great tool!

Cornflower on 2009-02-05 07:36

v1.50 now has a drag and drop button taht you drop on the window you want to see the text from. It makes this very valuable the tool so much easier and intuitive to use. An excellent upgrade, imo.

Unfortunately, it still does not seem to handle Outexvlb type listboxes.

Webfork on 2009-11-06 18:42

*Extremely* important tool for software testers. Getting lengthy error messages out of static windows is critical to helping developers understand what went wrong. If you want to help any of the makers of software on this or other sites, start with SysExporter.
