I'm still with HJ-Split v1.4 (for Windows 95!), but never had any problem with it in my XP Pro SP3...

Doesn't convert both hashes to upper or lower case, so if your MD5 hash is uppercase, it will say they don't match even though they do. |
Hash is simple drag-and-drop file verification tool. The program displays file size, modified date MD5, SHA1, and CRC32 functions on any number of files. Results displayed in the window can easily be copied to the clipboard or saved to a text file. The program allows direct browsing of multiple files.
Includes command-line capabilities with support for wildcard selections.

I like this program best, since it allows multiple files at the same time, and supports a bunch of different formats, and is free.

Outstanding program. Drag-and-drop support, multiple file checks, and containing the three major checking algorithms. Very useful to evaluate a file as genuine and uncorrupted.

Hash could be really convenient if it allowed to suppress GUI and redirect output to /stdout/. |

very simple utility, the only problem is it's limited to your system memory. |

This little "proggy" has been around for a long time. Where it excels is the process of adding an MD5 signature to a filename to help verify you still have a valid file. Such as after emailing it to someone else. Drag and Drop the file to dsmd5.exe "Yes" to copy to clipboard, then append something like [md5=].

For some reason the short-hand for Control-V after "md5=" did not show up. |
MD5 GUI is a MD5 checksum generator and verifier. The generated checksum can be viewed on screen, copied to the clipboard, or saved to a file (for use with the checksum verification function).

eXpress CheckSum Calculator is great for verifying the integrity of files downloaded from the Internet. Similar utilities install new shell menus and/or tabs, which I dislike, because experience have shown that badly written shell utilities will make Windows Explorer less stable. Why sacrifice system stability when you can use small, simple utilities like these instead?
