Taksi v0.7.7.2

Checker on 4 Aug 2014
  • 320KB (uncompressed)
  • Suggested by Fluffy

Taksi is a video/screen capture tool for 3D applications. It can capture from almost any DirectX, OpenGL or GDI window and capture video of the contents. Although videos can be compressed, this is not recommended as it further slows down an already taxing process

Note: This application is still in development and some features are not yet implemented (such as recording audio).

System Requirements: Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP
Writes settings to: Application folder
License: BSD
How to extract:
  1. Download the installer and extract to a folder of your choice using the "MSI Administrative Installation" method
  2. Delete the .MSI file (name varies depending on version eg. taksi-0.7.6.msi) and TaksiLogo.jpg
  3. LaunchTaksi.exe
Recommendations: Turning video compression off for the best performance. Click on "Config", then the "Format" tab, then the "Video Codecs" button. Select "Full Frames (Uncompressed)" from the drop-down dialog, then click "OK". The program will warn you that this uses up a very large amount of diskspace: click "OK" and then Save).

Why the heck does FastStone Capture magnify my screen when I try to take a screenshot - region or full, doesn't matter. It's aggravating when I want a full width cap. Ive looked in settings and there is nothing that I can see to adjust. Any thoughts? I'm on Windows 10.

webfork on 2016-06-02 02:58

@jimdorey: I'm a little confused why we had a listing that this works with Win10 -- it really doesn't. When this version of the program stopped being developed, Win7 wasn't even out yet. Anyway, I recommend trying another software package for that OS. I've updated the entry.

joby_toss on 2016-06-02 11:49

@jimdorey: v5.3 works fine on my win 10 x64 using a 1080p screen resolution. Maybe you're using a high DPI screen/4k monitor, and only the last version (8.4, payware, but worth every penny) works fine in that case.

Starting from WinSnap version 2 is no longer free ad indicated from their forums page.

However, the portable version of 1.1.10 , which this app entry refers to, is still on the site so grab it while you can.

The last freeware portable edition is still available from the authors site, however it is difficult to find it.

I made a JPE launcher for it as well.

Just download Wink from offical website then open the installer with 7zip and drag files in $R0 to App. You can delete the URL shortcut as well as the uninstaller if you want to save a bit of room :S

XtattiK on 2009-12-04 07:07

Sweet - my work just changed policy on user installation of i've been hunting around like crazy for portable versions of all my fave programs so i can still use them. This works perfectly, cheers.

ChemZ on 2011-01-11 00:17

The Softpedia/PortableApps download link doesn't actually contain Wink, just the wrapper/launcher (which you will still need).

As -.- said:

- You need to download Wink from
- Extract with 7zip or Universal Extractor
- Then copy the contents of $R0 into the App\Wink folder of the wrapper/launcher.

Bit of a hassle but it works. Good luck!
