yoi.. that test this software.

Wandering on 2007-12-26 08:36

You need to start this by "run as administator" in order to see all the drives. You can set that property in the shortcut properties if you wish.

webfork on 2016-04-13 20:04

This program really helped me out today by showing a "high speed" flash drive really wasn't. Negatively, it wants to erase a drive to run a write test for some reason. Still, a great diagnostic program with an easy to understand output.

Encopy v5.26

lwc on 24 Dec 2022
  • 75KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 14 Jun 2012
  • Suggested by AlephX

Encopy rescues data from damaged media when standard system copy fails, freezes and or rejects the media. In cases where it is not possible to perform a full recovery, Encopy will try to copy as much data as possible from the damaged files.

Great for use in getting whatever data off a scratched CD or DVD whose copy would otherwise give up on a read error.

A great Video Cataloguer, let down only for the lack of documentation and online support. Have more than 400 DVDs and tried both the apps in this category, stayed with PVD. Nimble and quick, doesn´t have all the importers that AMC has, but makes finding blanks and editing a breeze. Recomended.

Miguel Angel on 2011-04-22 09:33

Una base de datos para películas muy buena, sobre todo, la posibilidad de importar los datos y carátulas de páginas web.
- Falta solamente la traducción al español.
Gracias, thank you.
Congratulations !!!

"Copy or move the contents of $INSTDIR to a folder of your choice":
I just extracted using uniextract (2. try: 7zip, same result). There is no $INSTDIR, only $PLUGINSDIR, SOUNDS and files imgburn.exe, imgburnpreview.exe, readme.txt.
I suppose this altogether is equivalent to $INSTDIR ? At least it seems to work and afterwards the ini is 18KiB and it created dir "Log Files".

smaragdus on 2015-04-15 04:09

I confirm that *fang-face* is right- the extraction of the latest version of ImgBurn (2.5.8.0) with Universal Extractor version 1.6.1 or with 7-Zip version 9.20 doesn't create any '$INSTDIR' directory.

alanc on 2016-09-25 11:58

"Includes disc testing, verification (that files are exactly the same as those on the disc)"

Re verification: I'm not sure, but I think the program only verifies that the burned content is readable. I don't see the source drive active during this process.

I always verify with WinMerge after burning:

Only notice webfork's comment today. Used Universal Extractor 2 https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2764 to extract to a new folder and ran vv.exe. Still unable to get portable version to run, even as administrator.

Andrew Lee on 2021-04-01 01:35

The portable ZIP did not work, but the extracted installer files worked fine for me without running as admin.

Optical Info v1.04

webfork on 15 Oct 2017

Optical Info detects and displays the read/write capabilities of any CD/DVD drive. This is useful because such drives don't often display their capabilities in the front panel, or the information may be blocked by the PC casing. The utility allows you to select a CD/DVD drive by drive letter for analysis.

I prefer "Nero Info Tool" instead because it displays more precise information about read/write modi of your cd/dvd burner, e.g. TAO/SAO/DAO etc. Along this you have some other useful information about drivers/ASPI/ide controllers etc.

No "erase disc" option...
I prefer to use "burniso" from ghosthunter as standalone app or to burn iso with "deepburner".
BTW, I haven't found any trace of "burniso" in the registry... Anyone to test it as portable ?

TDM on 2008-01-17 17:54

I agree, it needs an erase function!

Zero3K on 2020-05-25 22:15

It does have an erase function. After asking for a blank CD, if it is re-writable, it will ask if it is OK to erase it.

Infrarecorder is not Stealth. It creates the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cygnus Solutions after a disc has been written.
