Maybe the Admin can update the link?Anyway it's a great app-simple but powerful!
Greetings to Andrew Lee,this website is amazing!

@ Andrew Lee & charles: There's a registry hack described here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292504 (next to last in the list) to stop Windows from logging apps run and files & docs accessed: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoInstrumentation"="1" . Also, http://www.tomstricks.com/how-to-disable-user-tracking-spying-in-windows-xp-to-improve-performance/ gives several other methods for accomplishing the task. Cheers!

As of Sept 11, 2019 .... When clicking the download link: "File not found".
The developer's website does not respond to download requests.
The software is not listed on Softpedia.

Midas on 2019-09-12 10:37

WebArchive.org last site snapshot is from 2018-11-07: see http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.codershole.com/. Unfortunately Pix's last release download (v1.3.13, 89kb, released 2005-09-10) was hidden behind a PHP script so it's not part of it. I also tried Baas direct link below with no success.

Actually I discovered on one of by backups that I downloaded the file a couple of years ago.
I also found the file at: http://s1.download.net.pl/1755912-PiX.zip

The website www.brisksoft.com is down, but it can still be seen via Google's cache: http://tinyurl.com/2dposn - it's in English, but minimalistic and hardly worth visiting.
The file itself is available at external download sites, e.g.
http://www.brothersoft.com/littleviewer-download-40947.html
The viewer is totally minimalistic - no wonder at 20 k size... The biggest problem about is, you can't locate files in an external file explorer and then open them with this viewer. Instead, it always starts with a folder tree view of the desktop, from where you'll have to go on a "clicking journey" to locate the image folder you want to view. Overall, unless you're a complete tiny software freak, go get something a few kilobytes bigger but more comfortable...

__philippe on 2013-11-16 18:19

Word to the wise:
avoid BrotherSoft site downloads like the proverbial plague: their *.exe installer files are bundled with tons of self-serving advertising and other nefarious nuisances.

Here is a safer source for diminutive LittleViewer: (21k, compressed with Yoda crypter)
http://download.freewarefiles.com/files/LittleViewer.zip

Besides the above warning, I concur with Thomas about LittleViewer being perhaps a trifle too minimalistic to navigate folders in comfort, regardless of its appealing minuscule footprint.

Keeping the tiny league in mind, a more appropriate viewer choice might be:
MycView (40k, UPX-compressed)
http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2251

BTW, the FreewareFiles repository offers a nifty "Sort by File Sizes" function which I would dearly love to see implemented on PCF...;-)

Cheers,

__philippe

Breaking news! (courtesy System)

Like a Phoenix amazingly rising from its ashes, LittleViewer's site is alive again !
Both site and dowload pointers are now operational.

MaxLister v2.41

webfork on 3 Jan 2022
  • 269KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on
  • Suggested by Darkbee

MaxLister creates virtual images of floppy disks, CD-ROMs or other removable media. This is useful for keeping track of that vast CD collection, a problem that a lot of people come across these days. With MaxLister, you can save any drive or folder to a MXL file, then browse or search it in a Windows Explorer interface. You can also choose to save the information in a plain text file in three different layouts: Collapsed, Folders only and Folders and Filenames.

jcpma on 2010-10-09 02:47

My .mxl files aren't associated with WindowsOS. Is the registry still affected?.
What is missing from maxlister: sorting ability; and locking up before starting. (I usually get around the latter by browsing to pre-existing .mxl file.) It's too bad that the app has stopped at version 2.41. Maxlister let you choose which particular directory of .mxl files you wanted to search through!

ArtRage v1.1

Checker on 4 Aug 2014

ArtRage is a painting package that features numerous realistic painting tools in a simple, intuitive environment. ArtRage lets you paint your own picture from a blank canvas, or load an image to 'trace' using any of its painting tools, letting you recreate your own images as painting.

Note: ArtRage no longer appears to be portable. The settings are written to the user profile folder instead of the application folder. Therefore I am freezing the portable version at V1.1 until further development.

Category:
Runs on:Win2K / WinXP
Writes settings to: None. Actually it writes a single entry to the Windows registry the first time it is run so that the introductory screen will not appear again the next time, but that hardly counts as a setting.
Stealth: ? No
Unicode support: No
License: Freeware
How to extract:
  1. Download the installer and install to the default folder
  2. Copy all files to a folder of your choice
  3. Finally, uninstall the program
  4. Launch ArtRage.exe

Abilon is a RSS feeds aggregator. You can store interesting items in memories for later retrieval. In addition, you can set archival options for each feed so that recent items are retained even when they are removed from the feed. This is very useful for catching up on news after a long vacation.

Note: You can make Abilon support enclosures by editing the file "rssitem.templ" in the "Themes" folder and append "<<RSSITEM.ENCLOSURES>>" at the end of the file (no quotes). Then restart Abilon and it will display links to the enclosures at the bottom of each feed message. Thanks to "PJ"

I still use this program all the time. It crashes hard if you have "Auto-save the log after 1000 lines" enabled. I just went looking for an update. There are none. It seems to be a one off because I couldn't find anything recent from Kristen Tande, who made this and Microburner. Some developer profiles here and there; that's it. Site is long gone. Unique and useful and quite portable. Stores settings in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SILENTNIGHT] or copy/paste.
