CurrPorts v2.50 Updated

billon on 14 Mar 2018
  • 128KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 12 Mar 2018
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

CurrPorts displays the list of all currently opened networking ports on your local computer. For each TCP/IP and UDP port in the list, information about the process that opened the port is displayed, including the process name, full path of the process, version information of the process (product name, file description and so on), the time that the process was created and the user that created it.

In addition, CurrPorts allows you to close unwanted TCP connections, kill the process that opened the ports and save the TCP/UDP ports information to HTML file, XML file, or to tab-delimited text file. The program will automatically mark with pink suspicious ports owned by unidentified applications (applications without version information and icons).

System Requirements: Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Yes
License: Freeware
How to extract:
  1. Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice.
  2. Launch cports.exe.
  3. Optionally, download IPToCountry.csv or GeoLiteCity.dat to the same folder to show the Country of origin for each IP address.
What's new?
  • Added new columns: 'Sent Bytes', 'Received Bytes', 'Sent Packets', 'Received Packets'. These columns are active only when running CurrPorts as Administrator, 'Auto Refresh' mode is active and the 'Collect Send/Receive Bytes Information' option is turned on.

I like this program. I recently used it to notice some suspicious looking port activities. I was able to close the ports down and then turn them to stealth using my firewall program. Then I used this program again and everything has looked normal ever since then. So I think this program may have helped me to stop some hackers or malware. All of my own internet activities and programs work normally so I really do think this program helped me stop something bad from happening.

mp3DirectCut v2.24 Updated

mp3DirectCut is a small tool for editing MPEG audio directly. In addition, there is no quality loss to edited files.

There is a new version of mp3DirectCut- 2.21, but I do not like the new icon and will stick to mp3DirectCut 2.20. I do not get it why all developers embrace the ugly and unbearable M$ flat design.

Specular on 2016-02-20 12:47

In v2.22 there's a 'Configuration Storage' setting under Prefs>Folders. By default it's unchecked. Does it need to be enabled for portable use?

j7n on 2017-04-06 22:59

The new "flat" design with similar monochrome icons is a step back in usability. Normal appearance, apart from grouping of toolbar buttons, can be restored under Configuration -> Layout.

The program is a good tool for trimming old MP3 encodes without incurring further quality loss. Glitches are avoided if the MP3 is upconverted to 320 kbit beforehand with MP3Packer.

I wish it also supported common simple video soundtrack formats.

The file vlcrc in the 'portable' folder has this entry :

[skins2] # Skinnable Interface
# Skin to use (string)

VLC seems to accept relative paths (here at least). I have vlc_deepdark.vlt in the same directory as vlc.exe and it works OK.

Also with 3.0.0, no files/dirs left anywhere else. But creates a QT reg key :

I run vlc from a NSIS exe which deletes that key after VLC exits.

zorro on 2018-02-12 13:18 least with "native skin" there's no QT-Key left behind - I just checked it. When activating alternative skins, the Key appears but can be handled with a batch or portable starter like gbrao mentioned.

"Download the ZIP-Package" in description is a bit misleading: fuzzing around with the scripted download-button, you won't find a ZIP. At least I didn't find it.
Simpler: select "our FTP archive" under "older versions" (lefthand, underneath the small slideshow) - there you also find the newest versions as ZIP.
