Although it is extra useful, be extra careful with it or you might screw your system -- check, check, check, & recheck whatever you do.

Magibon on 2011-12-07 21:21

I stumbled upon this app. accidentally when trying to replace my system icon for .reg files. I used to use IconPhile, but it's process is hidden. Sometimes it's hard to undo.

With this.. im able to manually replace system icons. :)
And it's portable/stealth!

I use it since W98. Very easy copy/paste/crop/resize/scan/print/sharpness and many other things.
Dont have a pen/filler. Not a full img editor but very easy and has many options.
Fully work is done with xnview, mspaint(for pen) and PaintDotNet for layers.(except for the layers that xnview does not have, everything is easier with xnview)

JudyGarland on 2020-10-22 05:38

XnView is not Windows XP compatible anymore. In order to make it work with XP, replace libwebp.dll (plugin folder) with with webp.dll (xnview.com/download/plugins/webp.zip).
cheers

Nice tool. Should accept copy&pasted JSON-Data too.
Would be even better, if it could produce JSON classes for C#, VB.NET from the JSON data.

I cannot find RedNotebook version 2.0 for Windows (as of 2017-06-11):
https://sourceforge.net/projects/rednotebook/files/
it seems that currently it is available for Linux only.
The latest version available for Windows is 1.15.

ashghost on 2017-09-09 01:36

@smaragdus: Version 2.2 was recently released for Windows according to changelog here: https://github.com/jendrikseipp/rednotebook/blob/master/CHANGELOG

The project seems to have moved to GitHub. Downloads (Windows .exe and source archives) are here: https://github.com/jendrikseipp/rednotebook/releases. The link to Windows versions on the website now links to there.

I have not tested it for portability.

I really didn't like not being able to hit "enter" and have the message send. You can configure this behavior under options - Message sessions - General tab - Sending messages - checkbox "Send message on 'Enter'"

If that seems like a lot to go through to configure something fairly basic, that's kind of how this client works: a little confusing with a trade-off of intense customization.
