Any Video Converter v1.02

Midas on 17 Oct 2016

Any Video Converter is a video conversion tool designed to convert your files to formats playable on an iPod, PSP, or DVD. Though it is basically a front-end for MEncoder, it is far less robust than other front-ends. However, it is very useful if you're intending to make DVD's, iPod or PSP videos.

Note: The latest version of Any Videeo Converter is no longer portable. As such, I have made the last portable version I have available for direct download.

I got a older pro version (3.0.5.0), but not v.1.02. BTW, the current version is 4.0.5.0. It's not freeware. Can someone post v.1.02 somewhere please?

@ Andrew Lee & charles: There's a registry hack described here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292504 (next to last in the list) to stop Windows from logging apps run and files & docs accessed: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoInstrumentation"="1" . Also, http://www.tomstricks.com/how-to-disable-user-tracking-spying-in-windows-xp-to-improve-performance/ gives several other methods for accomplishing the task. Cheers!

Saves my back. This could make the drives even password protected. It has just all the options that are needed. Great! In German and English languages.

And what about this: my little daughter of three years old is allowed to play a game (totally mouse controlled). Don't want her to try and exchange CD-roms in the fragile laptop drive....
For [BOT]Fluffy this falls into the 'annoying family members' category. :-)

BartPE v3.1.10a

billon on 9 Dec 2016
  • 5MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 17 Feb 2006
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

BartPE enables you to create a self-contained version of Windows on CD/DVD that runs "live" from the CDROM. It includes full network support and read/write access to NTFS volumes, which is great for diagnostic or troubleshooting purposes. It also includes a good number of built-in apps, and many more can be added via the plugin mechanism.

Note: You need the original Windows Installation CDROM in order to build the "live" CD.

I finally decided to give BartPE a try so that I could make a bootable Ghost 8 CD, but when I would go to boot the finished CD, the damn thing would freeze at the "please wait" bar every time.

I spent my whole weekend trying to get it to work.

No matter what options I enabled/disabled and no matter what files I added or removed, it would still freeze at that "please wait" bar.

What a waste of time!

I ended up going with HawkPE.
Unfortunately, it doesn't enable CD/DVD burning support in Ghost, but at least the thing boots.

Well, I decided to try one more thing before giving up on BartPE.

I tried using my friend's Windows XP disk instead of mine and it worked.

My disk was version 2600.1152 (SP2)

and his disk was version 2600.1106 (SP1)

I can't believe I was unable to find any support anywhere related to freezing with certain XP versions.
BartPE has been around a long time now ... it seems like someone must have known about this problem.

Hopefully I don't encounter any more mystery bugs!

It writes some info about computer in %TEMP%\InfoTool\HDReadiness.txt, but I believe it's portable otherwise.

BTW, if you are planing to use later versions of Nero (or Nero portable), google for mini-nero or micro-nero, which are customized installations that remove most of useless bloatware tools.
