Uninstall Tool v1.6.6

Checker on 24 Jun 2012

Uninstall Tool is a small and fast utility that performs software uninstallation like the slow and bloated "Add and Remove Programs" applet. It includes a number of nifty features missing from the standard applet, such as display hidden installed programs, calculate how much disk space a program occupies, search by typing known letters of the program's name, deletion of entry if uninstaller is unavailable or fails to run etc.

Note that starting from V2.x, Uninstall Tool has gone payware. As such, I have included a direct download link for the last freeware version that I have.

Category:
System Requirements: WinNT / Win2K / WinXP
Writes settings to: Application folder
License: Freeware
How to extract: Download the "no setup" ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch utool.exe.

Hi... this is NOT freeware. It has 30 days evaluation.

ChemZ on 2010-08-25 13:01

What 30 evaluation? Being using it fine for a few months already.

Works quite fast I might add. Good features for it's size.

ChemZ on 2010-08-25 13:03

Correction...

V1.6.6 has no time limit.
V2.x does.

BartPE v3.1.10a

Checker on 24 Jun 2012

BartPE enables you to create a self-contained version of Windows on CD/DVD that runs "live" from the CDROM. It includes full network support and read/write access to NTFS volumes, which is great for diagnostic or troubleshooting purposes. It also includes a good number of built-in apps, and many more can be added via the plugin mechanism. Note: You need the original Windows Installation CDROM in order to build the "live" CD.

one should note.. E-machines, and i believe others dont give out the original windows disks they give only restore disks only for e-machines computer, so those wont work with bartPE, because i've tried.. damn e-machines. craputors alright.

Richard on 2008-11-28 12:57

I finally decided to give BartPE a try so that I could make a bootable Ghost 8 CD, but when I would go to boot the finished CD, the damn thing would freeze at the "please wait" bar every time.

I spent my whole weekend trying to get it to work.

No matter what options I enabled/disabled and no matter what files I added or removed, it would still freeze at that "please wait" bar.

What a waste of time!

I ended up going with HawkPE.
Unfortunately, it doesn't enable CD/DVD burning support in Ghost, but at least the thing boots.

Well, I decided to try one more thing before giving up on BartPE.

I tried using my friend's Windows XP disk instead of mine and it worked.

My disk was version 2600.1152 (SP2)

and his disk was version 2600.1106 (SP1)

I can't believe I was unable to find any support anywhere related to freezing with certain XP versions.
BartPE has been around a long time now ... it seems like someone must have known about this problem.

Hopefully I don't encounter any more mystery bugs!

Disable/Remove Windows Messenger vn/a

webfork on 2 Sep 2012

Disable/Remove Windows Messenger disables Windows Messenger on a per-user or machine-wide basis. You may need administrator level privileges to run this program. On WinXP SP1, you will receive an error message about unregistering an OCX file. This is expected and does not affect the removal process.

TweakUI v2.10

Andrew Lee on 12 Feb 2013

TweakUI gives you access to system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default user interface, including mouse settings, Explorer settings, taskbar settings and more.

Category:
System Requirements: WinXP
Writes settings to: None. It does change the Windows registry to alter system settings though.
License: Freeware
How to extract: Download the installer and install to the default folder (it automatically installs to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32. You are not given a choice). Then copy TweakUI.exe to a folder of your choice. Finally, uninstall the program. Launch the program by double-clicking on TweakUI.exe.

To get around the fact of it being an installer, if you rename it to *.cab instead of *.exe it will open in any common archive expander. From there you can extract the TweakUI.exe file and run it separately.

Safarp v0.5

Checker on 22 Jun 2012

Safarp displays the list of installed programs and allows you to repair/uninstall them. You can also remove orphaned/obsolete entries, or export the program list to a variety of report formats.

Two reasons why you should use Safarp instead of the default applet: it loads much faster (even when you have tons of installed application like I do), and it allows you to quickly located installed application by typing the first letter of its name (a major gripe I have with the default applet due to its usage of a non-standard listview control).

Category:
System Requirements: Win2K / WinXP
Writes settings to: Application folder
Unicode support: No
License: Freeware/Open Source
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch safarp.exe.

Superb uninstaller. Very fast, very effecient.

ChemZ on 2010-11-15 20:15

Yep! Small + useful!

Midas on 2012-06-22 14:14

Blinding fast. Ultra-small (exe is 48KB).

Some features not working but the export function ("Save list as..."; CTRL+S) does HTML, RTF, CSV, and TSV, doubling as a nice Windows analog to Linux Synaptic Markings -- and the templates can be edited to suit your personal taste. Cool!
