OperaTor is a software bundle that combines the power of the Opera Browser, Tor and Privoxy to allow anonymous surfing while using public terminals at internet cafe, library etc.
Note: this software is no longer maintained. The download link points to the last available version.

I would guess the speed penalty is there because of the router and proxy application.
It's slow due to stealth mode alright. There's a price to pay for privacy... Yet, it is significantly faster than a similar portable version of Firefox bundled with Tor (don't rememeber what it's called right now, but it's probably here, too). I have no idea why that is - could or could not be due to less than perfect anonymity. On the other hand, Opera is faster than FF anyway, might as well be that.
Update: The Firefox bundle is called xbBrowser, http://portablefreeware.com/?id=582
The reason why it is sooo sloooowwww is explained very good here: http://www.irongeek.com/i.php?page=videos/tor-1
Just a friendly side-note, but, instead of Privoxy, it began to use Polipo. This seems to be a trend since Tor official site also has "Tor Browser" bundled with Tor, Torbutton, Polipo, and Firefox Portable. Tor Browser might be a good addition to the portable freeware list of this site.
question: does OperaTor can hide my internet activity in our office internet/lan? Our office use windows server 2003 to monitor our internet activity?
Kinda slow, and it doesn't has flash.
Speed comes from the Tor network. Before complaining products using Tor as slow, educate yourself about the Tor.
The website link is outdated. The actual website is:

Thank you a lot for the really hot article close to this good post. Could you aid to find the custom thesis service or buy dissertation service to purchase the thesis titles at?
wow!
this is unbelievable!
i was using Codeen with Opera@USB, but those proxies do not work with HTTPS, which is used for logging in, encryption, etc.
I have been searching for HTTPS Proxies for the longest time. They are only for sale. The free proxies available on the net are http based.
OperaTor really works!
this is faster than the firefox browser bundle provided by Tor? LoL!
Im not sure if it's because of what i did, but a few extra seconds of waiting, in turn, for https functions.. is well worth it!

1. You can update the opera in Operator, just download the latest portable version, and replace with the "Opera" folder in OperaTor.
2. Edit "operaprefs_default.ini" to look like this.
[System]
Multi User=0
[User Prefs]
Language Files Directory={Resources}locale\en
Language File={Resources}locale\en\en.lng
Application Icon=.\operator.ico
3. Start OperaTor > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Proxy servers:
- Enable "HTTP", enter "localhost", and "8118" for Port.
- Repeat for "HTTPS", "FTP", "Gopher", "WAIS".
- Enable "Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy".
- Click "OK" to save.
- Close out Prefernces.
V3.5
EDIT:
In step 1, don't replace the entire folder.
Just copy & paste the contents from the latest Opera, and paste into OperaTor/Opera. There are files in there required for functioning, this is why you can just swap the folders.

Magibon: I have some comments on that, but entry comments seems the wrong place. Could you move it into the forums?

@ webfork
sorry if i posted in the wrong place, but i felt my comments weren't important enough to create a new entry in the forums.

You're always welcome to create your own forum post. You didn't post in the wrong place, but a discussion about OperaTor is a little easier in the forum.

I'm a fan of Opera products, but this version runs quite slow. Is that the penalty for running in stealth mode? The text loads and then there is a delay on graphics. It can't compete with IE6 or FireFox Portable.
