bigstusexy: This is not true and the preview Image is incorrect. EPIM has a small text advert on the upper right hand of the of the program window. Its just to advertise the Pro version of the program but its always there and cycles through a few different words. [2006-05-27 22:43]
sur: I like options import, export. And I hope the next version can be shoose from Contact to export contact by e-mail address only, name and tel., select all, etc. (like a options in MS Outlook).
Thank's EssentialPIM team. It's good job. [2006-09-01 11:10]
jingan: Man, I've been looking for something like this for a long time. Portable, with all my schedule and todo's right on my usb drive. [2006-11-27 13:18]
krusz: In polish lang I can't write some polish letters!! [2006-12-04 12:02]
VB: It does support unicode. Some import/export filters maybe not completely, but all data inside can be in any alphabet [2007-04-14 22:41]
Keith: It does require that IE be the default browser in order to print anything out. They said that they are working on changing it in version 2.1. We'll see. [2007-06-27 09:14]
Zappa: @Keith: It requires IE to be installed, not to be the default browser ... [2007-07-01 03:36]
Keith: @Zappa: Then why can I not print anything out? Here's my post on their forum.....
http://www.essentialpim.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5006&highlight=printing [2007-07-03 08:30]
Zappa: @Keith: Don't know, what your problem is. We have Firefox as default browser on all of our machines and never had any printing problems with EPIM (not in 1.x nor 2.0x). Maybe you destroyed Windows (IE's) default HTML rendering with Avast, Maxthon or some other IE- offset. [2007-07-09 14:08]
Teobromina: Acording to my tests, some of the features present in the EPIM FREE version 1.95 are not in the EPIM FREE 2.0 version. See the post below:
http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1844 [2007-07-17 10:37]
Crid: Where can I get a copy of V1.95? Anyone have one? [2007-07-25 14:41]
Zappa: @Crid - Get it here: http://lupo73.altervista.org/schede/essentialpimportable.htm [2007-07-25 15:49]
Tongky: How can I set the first day of a week from Monday to Sunday? I couldn't find this option. [2007-10-30 20:10]
VB: I do not use it often anymore. Google calendar and notes/todo gadgets on iGoogle rocks (portable 101%) I use now mostly the tree notes and contact info as main contact base with ALL contacts I have...even ones that I do not use :)
Plugins should be implemented..but it's not gonna happen soon [2007-11-17 06:35]
indy ram: Looks like versions 2.0 and above are
actually trial versions of professional software
After 500 entries it stops further entries
and recommends that you buy the pro version
Even deletion of unwanted entries doesn't allow
you to enter more entries in the schedule [2007-11-30 12:18]
joby_toss: @indy ram: I use v2.2 now and I have more than 1000 contacts. I can still add contacts and delete them. Are you sure your version is the FREE one ? [2007-12-26 10:01]
Myself: I have a suggestion for EssentialPIM developers, just like utorrent has a web interface, EssentialPIM should have one too, so I can run it on my computer at home or office and then access my records using http://mycomputersIpAddress:port/ and it would ask me my password/username and I will have access to all the content though web, although EssentialPIM is portable but I think this kind of feature (as they have it in outlook) would boost the popularity of product a lot. :) [2008-02-07 23:09]
Moogy Reister: I like this app. One glitch I have experienced is that when I try to INSERT HYPERLINK into a NOTE entry, the dialog box opens and I am able to enter the TEXT and TARGET information; the hyperlink is created in the note, however, there is note action when you click on the created link. Anyone else experience this? [2008-02-20 08:39]
Moogy Reister: Typo in the comment: "there is note action" should be "there is no action", i.e. the link does not appear to work. [2008-02-20 08:42]
luca: Moogy Reister, keep CTRL key pressed! [2008-03-25 04:36]
Aaron: Nice tool, fresh colors. I use ToDoList, which has a flatter look. Ess.PIM. gives a better overlook on more-day tasks. I will give a try besides ToDoList (also on this site). [2008-04-22 08:39]
Paul: Also it will be good to mention free Mozilla Sunbird. It is not so reach about features, but anyway good! [2008-09-15 01:10]
devskii: this is not freeware, this is CRIPPLEWARE! [2008-09-26 02:32]
bigstusexy: The preview screenshot is still of the pro version which isn't free, I haven't checked this version to still see if it nags you but if you like when I do I can grab a screenshot [2008-11-01 08:33]
Carl: Need help can't open essentialpim free on through a network, need a login and password, how can i change this?? [2008-12-28 08:05]
Asiangotchi: @ bigstusexy
That's the pro version. Maybe someone modified it. o.o' [2008-12-29 11:56]
Chris: Sigh. Free version does not offer encryption as the Synopsis at the top of the page (above) indicates. Pro only feature according to the website. [2009-04-12 09:11]
Checker: Newest version (3.01) does not support Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K [2009-05-24 02:06]
johncons: 3.02 supports win2k, can confirm it. [2009-06-17 04:40]
Ancient Images: Here's EssentialPIM 1.95 Free Portable:

Technomancer: I prefer the earlier version. I had some trouble exporting stuff.
Other than that it's great. [2009-06-28 12:32]
Technomancer: Yeah, so i might prefer the earlier version, but i still think it's good.
I purchased a 'portable' copy and it's got the lot. [2009-10-17 20:30]
doctorfrog: @Chris on 04/09: the current free version does indeed offer encryption. Aside from that, my take on this app is that it does so much right, that the things it cannot do are heartbreaking. Do this: create a new, empty database, then add a daily, repeating task. What does EPIM do? It creates thousands of database entries for this one task for the next ten years, instead of one entry that repeats daily (duh). How is this efficient database usage? How can this be after three major revisions? Ugh. Still, few things compare to the featureset. [2009-10-30 06:28]
Gautam: its very nice we can travel with records as notes, todos only on USB
Pls add a small drawing toolbar for notes as in MS one note if possible [2010-01-13 07:30]
Sandro: Can´t open my essential pim database.
Can someone help me

Chris: Program webpage states that encryption is not offered in the free version. From http://www.essentialpim.com/?r=products&pr=essentialpim&prr=provsfree (see Secure Advanced Encryption - Yes for Pro version, No for Free version). [2010-02-08 05:50]
LucW: As far as I can see, the free version does not synchronise with Google Calendar. Pity [2010-05-18 22:16]

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
