Synopsis: Audiobook Cutter splits large MP3 audiobook files into smaller ones without re-encoding. The split points are determined automatically based on silence detection. The split files are easier to use on mobile MP3 players because of their smaller size, and their duration allows smoother navigation.

Note: As recent versions have turned into nagware, I have made a copy of the last freeware version for direct download. Please email me if you have more recent freeware versions of the software.

[Anonymous] doc40Great program..... Not only cuts files to reasonable lengths but changes clip name to sequential numbers. Allows you to prefix the numbers with your own code. You can load several CDs worth of files and change them all at the same time. [2007-06-10 18:19]

[Anonymous] elisee something like mp3 direct cut

[Anonymous] BunnieIt's now a Free Edition, does this mean there will be a Paid version and the free functionality will be reduced? [2008-02-28 07:57]

[Anonymous] PhilippYes, there will be a paid version with additional features in a few days. Beta tests were successful. I plan to launch the German page http://www.AudiobookCutter.de as a test balloon and if everything works fine the English page http://www.AudiobookCutter.com will follow. [2008-03-02 13:55]

[Anonymous] arnoldOkay ...this is now nagware and I believe should be removed from this list ..very annoying you get a nag to buy the pro when you open the app and when you close it ... [2008-04-29 10:05]

[Anonymous] a@phillip does this mean new features will NOT be added to the free version? [2008-04-29 10:37]

[Anonymous] PhilippThe Free Edition will be maintained continuously and might also benefit from Pro Edition features. Nevertheless the feature set of the free version will be smaller and focused on the core functionality like MP3 audio book cutting.

BTW It's the idea of the nag to be annoying... Until today every customer was very happy with his Pro Version :-)

[Anonymous] JackThis is NOT freeware. The supposed DEMO version only allows a max of 10 MB of MP3 to work with. Whats the point? Please take this off the database. [2009-01-15 00:41]

[Anonymous] TruthSeekerStick with version 0.75. It's really free. It ain't fancy, no bells and whistles, but it works. Version 1.4 demo is crippled and completely useless. BTW when you start up v0.75 answer "NO" when it asks you to upgrade! [2009-04-15 15:24]

[Anonymous] za-wulonyep, new demo version is useless for freeware users, but it rather works for first 10 min of any file.
Anyway appreciating your "free" job, I can give you a free clue.

My player mutes something like first second of any tune [book] it plays, if it would be more common I'd like to see prog [when buying] equipped with silence adder.....

If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
