Synopsis: Raindrop produces natural ambient sounds along with some special stimulating sounds for deep relaxation, sleep induction and perceived noise suppression. It is bundled with a series of highly realistic sound sets (tropical rain, birds etc.), meditation loops (mantra chants, instrumental vibrations etc.) and a binaural beats generator. Binaural beats are perceptive illusions that happen when your ears receive two slightly different sine waves and your brain erroneously "reconstructs" the signal as a "beat" (hence the name). Depending on its frequency (which is given by the difference of the two sine waves) the binaural beat can effectively change the alertness state of your brain, thus inducing fast reactions (high frequencies), mild relaxation (medium frequencies) or deep sleep (low frequencies).

[Anonymous] RyanThis is a spam entry. You should ignore it. [2006-08-14 11:38]

[Anonymous] daveSpam Entry? Meaning the file/program is no good? [2006-08-14 15:10]

[Anonymous] Bobbymy firewall doesn't block it. there is no porn, and I doubt Andrew would allow anything with spyware/adware into the database. your firewall alerts are probably false positives.
the programs are even open source

[Anonymous] MateoI checked it out pretty thoroughly. It's clean and very simple, especially if you follow the extraction instructions. [2006-08-14 18:45]

[Anonymous] [BOT] FluffySpam entry. That's funny. You make it seem like just anyone can waltz in and add to the database. I can assure the Portable Freeware visitors that this is NOT a spam entry, nor is it spyware or malware to the best of our knowledge. If we discover that it is classified as such, it will be removed. Please do not make statements out of ignorance, Ryan. [2006-08-15 14:03]

[Anonymous] LucaI think Ryan referred to Dan's comment & link [2006-08-21 07:13]

[Anonymous] OoopsFrow differents PC, and 2 differents provider, impossible to acced to this file. Any other way ? [2006-08-22 11:20]

[Anonymous] MikeFor those of us limited to English, where is the file? [2006-08-31 12:08]

[Anonymous] aI believe this happens because the file is hosted on altervista.org which is some sort of webhosting, eg. lycos, they have maybe 15 other files for download too. [2006-11-14 14:16]

[Anonymous] awow this is rather cool, i wish for more sound effects! [2006-11-14 14:20]

[Anonymous] Andrew LeeLooks like there is some server logic to disallow direct linking to the file, so I am changing the download link to the app's home page. You will have to search for "Raindrop" and click on the "binaries" link to download. [2006-11-15 05:26]

[Anonymous] sunThis site deals with the binaural beats. It gives the relaxation to the mind through the mind. Binaural beats are perceptive illusions that happen when your ears receive two slightly different sine waves and your brain erroneously "reconstructs" the signal as a "beat".

[Anonymous] SteveITBrilliant little program! Works perfectly. Now I can play a combination of "Air Conditioner" and "Jungle Storm" on the surround system in my bedroom and remember happier times in my life when I lived in the tropics.

Many thanx to the author (and to Portablefreeware too, obviously, for giving me so much great software that actually does work, at all times)!!!

[Anonymous] ProvenceThis is actually a terrific program and, no, ASAICT contains no malware. It's similar to Atmosphere Lite, which is also free, contains binaural beats, and ambient sounds. (Google it to find the URL, I'm not your mommy). Personally, even though AL is more commercialized, I like this better. There's also SoundBorb which is (even less) professionally programmed than this. [2010-08-29 17:00]

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
