[Anonymous] PeterExcelent piece, it's delphi. which I like very much. [2006-08-13 09:45]

[Anonymous] [BOT]FluffyUses up far more RAM than ClipX, far more than necessary IMO. [2006-10-08 12:46]

[Anonymous] kiwichickI had been using another clipboard application but got sick of it because it wouldn't retain my permanent items and I would have to re-enter them every time I started the program. ArsClip seemed the perfect solution. It has all the features of the other application plus even better ones - especially the Accelerator Keys function. Unfortunately, I have a major problem with it.

It doesn't insert text in file/folder names - it replaces the entire file/folder name. And in the case of filenames, it replaces the file extension as well. (No I do not have the filename highlighted - it makes no difference either way.)

For example: I edit a lot of image files. During the various editing stages I will rename the files by appending different words (BlueDucks.jpg becomes BlueDucks_resized.jpg, then may become BlueDucks_resized_edit.jpg). If I use ArsClip to paste _resized it doesn't append - it replaces the entire filename with _resized.

Seeing as this is the main reason I need a clipboard application, it makes ArsClip virtually hopeless to me. Unfortunately this didn't happen with the program I was previously using so I may have to go back to using it. I really, really, really hope this may be addressed in the future because everything else about ArsClip is great!!!

Also, I get a "Failed to set hotkey" error every time the program starts even though the hotkey has been set and works. Not a biggie though as it doesn't impare performance.

[Anonymous] Pikadude No. 1It kept accusing itself of breaking the clipboard chain, whatever that meant. Weird program. [2007-12-16 19:00]

[Anonymous] MidasMay I recomend to people having trouble with clip apps, the quirky but otherwise excelent free ClipDiary from SoftVoile? http://softvoile.com/clipdiary/

While it's not a straightforward portable application, it can be made portable by following the instructions at the forum...

[Anonymous] AncientImages3.1.2 has a bug which can stop you from copy/pasting files in explorer. The next public beta has a fix, but for now I'm back to ClipX + PureText for my clipboard managing/text format stripping needs. [2009-01-30 01:38]

[User] webforkGreat program -- took a little getting used to but the ctrl+shift+z has saved me a lot of time and energy with lengthy copy-and-paste proceedures. One small negative: I couldn't get the "Form Mode" tool to work. Its supposed to simulate a "tab" click after every paste so you can quickly enter in form information (name, address, date, etc). [2009-10-31 23:04]

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
