Synopsis: eXPert PDF Reader is a quick viewer for PDF files. It also provides editing capabilities for outlines, rubber stamps and annotations.
Writes settings to: Windows registry. But given the nature of the application and the small number of options that it exposes, I am accepting it as portable.
Dependencies:
How to extract: Download the installer and install to the default folder C:\Program Files\Visagesoft\pdfreader. Then copy all files your choice. Finally, uninstall the program. Launch vspdfreader.exe.
License: Freeware
System Requirements: Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP

[Anonymous] OpsimathicThis application displays pdf files nicely but appears to have problems printing. I have tried printing on four separate printers at both work and home and in each case characters are dropped (missed) in the middle of many words. IF this issue can be sorted out then this app becomes a good and useful one. [2007-04-04 07:09]

[Anonymous] Kermodeallen writing to the registry has nothing to do with being portable. [2008-05-31 13:39]

[Anonymous] aKermode, Of course it has to do with being portable, I wouldn't want a bunch software crudding my computers with a bunch invalid registry keys. [2008-09-02 12:35]

All HTML tags will be removed from your comment. URLs (http, https, ftp) will be automatically detected and hyperlinked. I reserve the right to delete irrelevant, frivolous or offensive comments. For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
