Bryce Dayton: Maybe it's just my somewhat unreliable 512mb flash drive, but this program seems to take an eternity to start and makes my whole computer lag while it's doing it. [2006-11-02 04:26]
kerberos: @Machete: Add 'PortableMode=1' to the section [General] of cdrtfe.ini. Then the program will only create files or folders in the folder from where it has been started.
@Bryce Dayton: Normally, cdrtfe should start within seconds. Does it work, if you start it from hard disk? Please contact me via eMail (see readme_en.txt for address). [2006-11-02 08:30]
Meter: Works more reliably with my goofy USB Micro Solutions CD-R/W drive (housing a Mitsumi CR-48XATE) than Micro Solutions own s/w. Super! [2007-03-29 08:14]
User: A complex and confusing CD burner program that offers a stunning number of features, formats, and capabilities for only 8 megs. With an odd and confusing program interface, cdrtools will require an at least basic familiarity with different formatting settings or a good look at the provided help file.
Conspicuously absent in a long list of features is the ability to burn data DVDs, only Video DVDs. This missing feature of any burner program (almost all present here at PortableFreeware.com) is big missing piece for users that want just one or a do-it-all burner program (DeepBurner is close). mjwiech: "The procedure entry point_impure_ptr could not be located in the dynamic link library cygwin1.dll"... [2008-04-02 08:49]
Helge: In response to User: I don't know if the description has been changed in the meantime, but on the website it says "[...]It can burn data discs (CD and DVD), Audio CDs, XCDs, (S)VCDs and DVD-Video discs[...]" - including data DVDs! [2008-04-03 01:00]
Mirko: I tried both cdrtools and DeepBurner, and then several other
CD/DVD burners. Some of them are good. Now I use only ImgBurn.
It works perfectly. I run it from USB stick. It is not fully
portable, it leaves traces in c:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\ImgBurn, but I think that is not a big issue. [2008-09-14 02:44]

All HTML tags will be removed from your comment. URLs (http, https, ftp) will be automatically detected and hyperlinked. I reserve the right to delete irrelevant, frivolous or offensive comments. For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
