Synopsis: Ghostzilla is a web browser that blends with any application running on your computer eg. Outlook, Word etc. It also disappears instantly when the mouse cursor is moved away. You activate it by moving the mouse cursor to the left edge of the screen, then to the right, and back to the left again.

Note: The website seems to be unavailable as of Feb 2007. I have added a direct download link for this entry, and you can also get it at Softpedia.
Writes settings to: Application folder
How to extract: Download the "Ghostzilla-CD" ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. You will only need the files in the "programs" subfolder since you are not burning it to a CD. Launch the program by double-clicking on Start-Ghostzilla-CD.exe.
License: Freeware/Open Source
System Requirements: Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP

[Anonymous] BeavisWorks VERY well! I use it within Outlook and it appears like an email instead of a website. Awesome covert browser while on the job LOL! [2006-06-12 07:39]

[Anonymous] ButtheadBeavis - Keep in mind that web browsing can still be tracked at the proxy server / router / etc. Just because it is not seen in the screen does not mean nobody knows about it. [2006-08-27 03:36]

"...As of February 2007, the site has been suspended and is no longer available..."

Though all of the links listed here are now dead, you can still find the ghost haunting corners of the web (eg: www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Browsers/Ghostzilla.shtml)

[Anonymous] DGThere also appears to be a plug-in for FireFox called GhostFox that works essentially the same way. Simply Google "Ghostfox" or "Ghostfox firefox plugin" to find it. [2009-09-23 00:20]

All HTML tags will be removed from your comment. URLs (http, https, ftp) will be automatically detected and hyperlinked. I reserve the right to delete irrelevant, frivolous or offensive comments. For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
