exosceleton: system wide shortcuts!
that means full control for your audio without ever seeing the program (if you want)
my 1st choice for ages. [2007-02-06 14:12]
cico: Resource friendly? Not quite :P Eats more RAM then foobar or Winamp sometimes. And has a few bugs also. [2007-02-12 22:57]
grannyGeek: I'm using older version from
http://digitalelement.byethost22.com/stp/download.html
the last version by the original author. I think other developers then took it over. To my mind, smaller and simpler to use. [2007-04-26 01:34]
halo3boards.com: This little piece of software rocks! it's a perfect portable app for my usb! but it does lagg a little when you're trying to close it... [2007-10-02 05:04]
Kunzite: It's wrong website in the title, there some programmers in the world, that are continues to develope this player, that is written by Youry Stous.
The full information (in russian) is in the MAIN testers site of this player - http://systrayplay.land.ru/
and there is almost all versions in the "Download" section.
As a tester, I announse, that the SysTrayPlayer will continue development and soon you can see the new version (with support other media formats, like OGG, WMA, e.t.c. [2007-10-08 05:46]
Victor: we got: http://systrayplay.land.ru/, http://systrayplay.free.fr/ang_default.php, http://stp.byteact.com/download.php ... you should all get organized and make only one site and work together in one version of the program, instead of multiple ones... I love STP, I always use it to listen to music and VLC for the rest :) ... also, Vista compatibility would be great hehe [2007-10-11 06:29]
Banshee: What a mess! This app does look really good, however the 'default' download link above gives me a version that ignore the settings of the EQ, whatever they are (yes, I did enable it) and also 'forgets' my volume setting between tracks and resets back to 100%
I tried all the links above, the russion site points to two other sites that dont load. The link to the 'original authors' version is a dead one.
As Victor said, can we please have a link for one consistent stable version and leave it at that?

Banshee: I've also found the version I have will not fast forward or rewind within a track, it just stutters. [2007-10-17 15:42]
Banshee: Solved, the link from Grannygeek is working again now, and that version works beautifully!! [2007-10-17 15:53]
Dangu: Nice App work fine on xp.
Tested on old OS to
doesn't work on Os98 and OsMe. [2008-03-11 03:41]
Midas: This app shows promise (ver. 1.2), derived from the fact that it has been around like forever, it has been integrated with my favorite browser K-Meleon (http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/) under the K-Ninja variant, it is skinable, and there seems to be active development.
But, after testing it, I really agree with Victor -- the current developers should join efforts and merge the various forks into a stable branch, spining off the variations to external extensions or plugins. The UI needs some revamping and Vista compatibility should be worked on...
Until then there are plenty of other free options that do a much better job, expending less resources: 1by1, Evil Player, Billy, Soprano, VU Player (search & google for these) and even Screamer Radio, just to name a few. [2008-04-22 07:24]
Banshee: hmm - just downloaded the latest version and I have the problem again where as it changes tracks it resets the volume level 10 100% [2008-05-23 06:42]
Rolf: What drives me mad is that ****ing tooltip that keeps popping up. When I'm working at the PC I use several prg's that I need now and then. When not, I minimize them to the systray. Every time I want to activate one of those prg's I get that tooltip again. I've checked the settings but there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it. Too bad, coz the prg ain't bad overall. Could have been even more simple, to my taste. I just want some music while I'm working on my sites, anything else is redundant to me. [2009-04-11 22:01]

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
