[Anonymous] Edgar HoffmannNice App, but the "portable mode" as described does not work for me. I copied all content (from $_OUTDIR, $APPDATA and $PLUGINSDIR without the mentioned vcredist_X86.exe) into one single folder, created the .ini-file and have all the dependencies, but get an error saying the program can not be startet, because the application's configuration is not valid (reinstall it).

Has someone got this to work yet?

[Anonymous] MikeI don't like this app. It runs too slow and is nothing but eye candy. Surely there are smaller, faster programs out there that have the same functionality as Rainmeter. [2009-08-12 13:09]

[Anonymous] Viper Technologies@Mike:

If you are so sure then go out find it and post it. I get really tired of comments like yours. Others have gone out of their way to find this. If you can do better then do so. Dont forget it must be FREE and must be portable. Otherwise keep comments like that to yourself

[Anonymous] LOLmy thoughts exactly. [2009-08-20 11:43]

[Anonymous] MikePoint taken. Didn't mean to sound so harsh but this app does run a little slow. [2009-08-20 18:18]

[Anonymous] MichaelBack to Edgar's initial comment...
Has it been working for something else?
@Edgar, did you finally manage to have it working?

[Anonymous] RickThe program is now available in a non-install zip file. As is, it will create directories in the user app directory, but if you create a rainmeter.ini (or rename default.ini to rainmeter.ini) in the Rainmeter folder it is completely portable. [2009-11-14 02:44]

[Anonymous] Ikke@Edgar and all that are interested in this:
Yes, it works in portable mode. Do what Rick says and you're fine. I've found only one problem which I can't solve at the moment: configuring the launch button at the bottom, doesn't seem to support relative paths.

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
